Doubt many will argue that the top 2 are sewn up with utd and city. (saying that Lambert just put Southampton ahead.) But neither of them look amazing at the back.

Then you've got Chelsea and Arsenal fighting for 3rd and fourth.

After that its totally up for grabs imo

Spuds ( who dont look great)
    Everton
    Mags
    Us

So who do ya think will grab 5th?

I'll be happy with 7th or 8th this season. Matter of fact, I'd be orgasmic!

What I want this year realistically is top 10 and a fantastic cup run.

let's have a cup run and absolutely no mention of the r word at any time, ideally finishing tenth or above.

we are still a couple of players away from being in that band of teams above us imo.

I raise you to top 9! Would like to see above 10 tbh, had a good cup run last year, semi finals would be great to see in any competition like

Nowt better then a cup run.
Anything above 10th will be great , i just reckon this season 4-8th is a real possibility. As soon as we get some proper full backs in.

Whats the scoop on bardsley's return?

    I think we're fighting Swansea for 8th.

They bossed us yesterday, but we will improve over the next few weeks.

Remember we're a game light, makes a difference at this point in the season, fitness, touch etc.

hopefully if we continue to look solid towards the end of december and are there or thereabouts for a late run into the top eight, ellis will stick his hand in his pocket again come the window.

We are not contenders for 5th in any way in my view. I think anything in the top 10 is all good. Let's keep our feet planted. Right now, I just want our first win, moderate as that may seem.

Think Chelsea could be in the title fight. 4th is wide open but not for us. 8th is about as high as we will go I think. Hope to be proved wrong. Gonna take MON a couple of seasons to build the team.

I do worry about injuries for us I feel this is what will keep us from breaking the top 8.

I also think it's a fairly strong prem this year.

I agree 8th would be amazing but when you look at the reasoning who is going to finish above us?? Man U, City, Chelski, Arsenal yep I agree with. Spurs? maybe but they look dodgy this season. Everton? again they look good but they don't have a big squad (so that's the top 6 but its by no means nailed on). Then you have got: Mags (not done much to strengthen, drew with a poor Villa today), Liverpool (looking more like relegation candidates). I think WBA could be the surprise as they are playing really well at the moment. Villa, Fulham, Stoke?? all weaker than last season.

Its going to be an interesting season, I think MON will be aiming for top 6. Aim high as they say and if you don't quite make it 8th will do very nicely.

West Brom are doing a classic 'team managed by a number 2' in that things are all going wel lto start with while the players still see SC as a 'friend' rather than the boss. Things usually then go tits up after a couple of bad results on the trot.

I could of course be wrong and they go on to have a fantastic season.

If we finish say 8th; with a good cup run thrown in; Fletcher to score 15 - 20 goals and our team another season together, that would be an excellent season imo. Along with ourselves, I think too think Spurs, Everton, Barcodes, Swansea and Liverpool will fight it out for the next few places.

That said, someone like WBA or West Ham might surprise a few and push on as well.

Thing is, the EPL is not an easy division to call outside the usual top 4 better teams and anyone can beat anyone on a given day. Its going to be one of the toughest seasons for some time as even Southampton, beaten today, look a canny side and they are bottom.

I think you might be right there. Form is all over the place at the moment. I do not see Swansea in the top 8 at the end of the season or West Brom for that matter. A top 8 finish for Sunderland would be real progress.

As I have said on other threads top 4 - let them fight it out.
BUT the next four are truly up for grabs. Spuds and Everton (may even break into THE 4) will be in the mix.
I for the life of me see no logical reason why we won't be right behind these two. OK I accept there is no logic in football especially the premier league.
Now I cover myself with happy at 10+, but keeping a little door open in my heart for 5-8 WHY NOT, I SAY- WHY NOT. It's my team after all.

Not a chance, it will be a big fight to finish 8-9-10, and that will represent a good season , many decent teams will be fighting for the same type of finish .

I believe 8th place at best with the current squad we have, hopefully a decent cup run. After watching the game against Swansea I think we have a a lot of work to do, especially in midfield, when we lost Catts we didnt have a ball winner and lost control of the midfield. I must admit that I normally am critical of Catts and his explosive moments, but he definetly intimidated the Swans midfield.
Things are definetly improving from the Bruce era, but we still are a few years behind in becoming a top 6 or 7 side.

I Wouldnt write Chelsea off. Man City and Man Utd haven't looked great at all. Id be quite happy with top 10 to be honest and a good cup run. Think we are a top class centre back and gem of a cm off top 5
