We played well today!!!!! compared with our last performance against Arsenal in March the only similarity was the score. we did not create
anything yesterday, in March even Van Persie could not understand how we lost, if he watched yesterdays performance he will wonder how
it was only 2 nil. As to blaming Reina for the 2nd goal, the shot was too fast to get down in time, it was our defence that fell apart, we are back
to desperately needing Lucas in the middle, but why was there no cover bought in the transfer window, when we all know how vital he has become.

You never seen him play? For a small lad he uses his strength to turn the attacker and come away and pass the ball on. He's done it many times.

Mate, don't even respond to his comment. He clearly hasn't seen Allen play.

"Am I the only person that thinks Joe Allen is massively overrated??"

No. Allen takes the easy pass every time. He's a very accurate passer of the ball but killer passes are almost unheard of. Press him and he's not quite so assured. Said this when he was with us but thanks for the £15M. <ok>

    Michu = £2M = four goals.

I don't think Allen's job is to find the killer ball. He sits deep and controls the tempo of the game. It may seem simple but that's what we needed - ball retention and not losing possession.

I think if he played higher up, his attacking abilities could be restricted and he may struggle, but as mentioned above, it's not what we bought him for. We have other attackers who can (should!) be doing this for him.

From what I have seen so far, Allen has looked so composed on the ball when he is closed down. Nothing has given me any indication that he looks fazed by oncoming players. I think he has won 3 Club MOTM's which says a lot about his performances.

No, it speaks volumes about his team mates.

Got nothing against Allen at all but £15M for someone who you only want to pass the ball accurately? Aren't most footballers able to do that? A number of Swans fans (and yes we're in the minority as he's still worshipped here) always felt he was a tidy little player but nothing more. When Rodgers came sniffing my mates and I were chuffed at the money being bandied about.

He'll do a job for you but there were many times last season when he looked completely lost and gave the ball away for fun. This was usually when he was pressed by the opposition, and if managers are doing their job it will happen. Allen rarely got MOM with us in recent times. In a team full of excellent passers of the ball it was usually Nathan Dyer or Leon Britton. Don't tell me - you'll be in for them soon. <doh>

If you want to know what is Brendan's vision for Liverpool just imagine playing with 11 players who are as composed and comfortable on the ball as Joe

Don't care who you think was better at Swansea, it is clear to see what Allen brings to Liverpool. Something we haven't seen since Alonso left and players like Adam and Spearing can only dream of. But the lad is 22 now, getting on a bit and hardly any room for improvement so it looks like we are stuck at his abilities as they are now.

PS> That last bit was a bit of sarcasm for those of you that are inept.

Drogba's contract with his Chinese club is likely to be terminated at Christmas, as their owner is withdrawing all funding. So he will probably be free in January after the ACON, as long as he doesnt play against us :) You should go for him if we dont have him back

Joe Allen over-rated? I guess you believe serial bottler Wayne Rooney is world class. Rooney has three things, no football brain, no technique, and no left foot.

I'm not knocking him either, the vastly inflated price tag isnt his fault either thats just more daft money thrown at catching up with the top 6 by Liverpools owners. Allen isnt a bad player hes just not that good. Passing the ball 5 yards backwards or sideways isn't that difficult. When he does play the ball forwards its always a 'safe' pass. They bang on about his percentages and compare him to Xavi and Iniesta lol but **** me! those two can also dribble, shoot, create and dominate games. Allen relies too much on the players around him, he could never control a game. Without the movement around him he couldn't pass the ball to anyone and he would lose it.

Once the media fascination with Rodgers fades away so will Allen. Stats dont win matches it about putting the size 5 between the 3 posts :)

to all; hang on and "calm down calm down" honestly..

look the football isn't too bad but the players need to get a grip and play a lot better.... its quite simple... we are hold more possession than we have for years but the front 3 COLLECTIVELY are simply not holding the ball up well and the style of possession means they really need to to bring the whole team forward. the full backs are far too committed before they need to be.. i see a big gap between forwards and midfield and suarez is coming to odeep and all he does is immediatley lay it off not take it in and turn...

We needed a player who could simply take the ball in with his back to goal and hold on for a minute.

but thats not to be... right now we can play good football, we put cit yon the rack to prove that but we are going to be begging for goals... hardly a relegation battle but we will struggle to make 8th unless something changes.
