I am heading away for a few days as of tomorrow (travelling to York, naturally), so thought I'd post this while I had the chance. There's a very good write up on Lot 268 in today's Racing Post. The dam was sold as a yearling, but the buyer returned her to her breeder after finding a fault with her (can't remember if it was a breathing issue or a limb problem). The breeder - Bob McCreery - then offered a % of her to his stud manager (who foaled her) and Simon Tindall. The mare went on to win them over £100,000 in prize money, including a Listed race and placed in 5 other Listed races, and her first foal was the sale topper at this sale last year, making £280,000. Named GALE FORCE TEN, he finished second in the Norfolk Stakes at Royal Ascot, behind Reckless Abandon.
Lot 56 (as flag up in my original post) is currently topping the sale at £120,000, sold to Tony Nerses who purchased and raced, amongst others, Authorized.
Day One finished with lot 268 (your favourite Jeff!) topping the sale at £185,000, sold to John Ferguson.
