I know I mentioned this in other threads, and we've all mentioned it.

But I think we all agree this is a serious issue.

Us in a 4-4-2 does not work! Knocking balls up to Cisse and Ba sucks cock! Neither can win them against CB's from a goal kick.

I don't give a **** if Ba or Cisse start crying for not getting to play centrally. It's what the team as a whole is doing that matters, and in a 4-3-3 we're far better.

What we should try and do is play 4-3-3 with two wingers and one striker, and rotate Ba and Cisse in the striker position.

    Marv-----Ba/Cisse------Ben Arfa

    ----------Cabaye------------

    ----Tiote---------Bigi/Jonas---

    Santon--Colo--Saylor---Perch/Anita

    ------------Krul--------------

We need to give Cabaye freedom to roam and creative. In a 4-4-2 we lack spark and we lack flowing movement. It's just two big black guys up front, and a midfield trying to link together.

If Ba or Cisse complain about not getting enough time centrally, then we should just sell one of them, because we cannot bow down to a players demands.

Besides, Ba scored from the left when we switched to 4-3-3 in the final 20 mins of the spurs game.

Hopefully we'll have Tiote and Perch back after two weeks rest.

If we wanted to play long balls and 4-4-2, then we should have just payed the money for Carroll, because he's the only one that can make it effective. Ba and Cisse are too easy to handle from goal kicks.

We should leave our defensive midfielders back, let Cabaye go forward, and let the front 3 have freedom.

If we need players to cover our fullbacks, then Tiote and Jonas are would always be back there!

I don't understand why we've dropped that philosophy! It won us 9 out of 10 games in a run last season.

After today I'd certainly try Anita at RB for a while. Looked good there in an attacking sense, good movement and pace and not too shabby defensively.

Marveaux could be the answer for the left but needs to convince for a whole 90 minutes... Looks good when coming on late in a match but didn't look so hot when he played the whole game against the Greek side the other week. Also think Fergy might be able to do a job there.

Didn't look great? Sorry to sound disrespectful, but I think you must have been watching a different game, Marv was arguably the best player on the pitch vs Atromitos next to Obertan.

That was this week - I meant the away leg the week before. I remember a lack of enjoyment in his performance, but the whole team was poor that evening to be fair.

I assumed we'd be rotating Ba and Cisse especially with Europa League games. They don't work together. Not looking forward to Everton away.

Ba and Cisse...Its strange two players who have played half a season together and for years for their International team have pretty much no chemistry. As everyone is saying we should be rotating them as the main striker in a 4-3-3 although I did like the look of the 4-3-1-2 we went to but would take time to get use to which we don't have atm.

We only have 3 senior strikers, the fact one's injured and we're persisting to play the only 2 we have available worries me, let alone the fact they have no chemistry because their instincts are too similar.

    Agreed.

We should play one with two wingers up front, and bring the 2nd on as a sub for 20 mins or so.

I agree with everything in the OP. The only thing I would point out is that with 2 up top who admittedly play the same way and often ended up running to the same place on the park making it easy for them to be picked up by defenders is that they were both in the Villa box for a lot of the game. Our balls into the box have been terrible since the season start, 90% don't seem to be getting past the 1st man. I think if we'd have got a few more into the danger area then we could have come away with 3 points today.

1 of the front 2 probably has to sacrifice more for the team, ie Ba. Now having seen Anita at fullback, it's blatantly obvious how poor Simmo is in attack. The lad can defend but he can't attack at all, hence we really should've gotten a fullback. Now we'll have to hope Perch comes back or Anita will stand in at fullback for awhile now, and Tiote needs to recover, he's the engine of our midfield , we need him back and fast. With Tiote, our 4-4-2 would look much better. Cos I think he's the only one who can play DM with 2 central midfielders. Otherwise, I think 4-3-3 really works well for us.
