Hotbovril Welcome to the Saints site.......We look forward to your contribution. You're a long way from home so I guess you cannot see your beloved Saints that often. Mind you some Good flights down from Edinburgh! You make some Salient points...However was Risdale brought in to make the administration phase, a bit easier, as he has had so much experience? Not sure what is going through the FA's mind when they decide on "A FIT AND PROPER PERSON" to take over a club. Someone that has been a driving force in two previous failures could not be deemed a FAPP Surely. I guess it comes down to who the main shareholders are in this case and he is not is he. However where are they? How come they are allowed to buy a club or be the main share holders and not attend the club, or even enter the country. My personal view is that Some Japanese thought that it was a way of making money as Plymouth had been granted a world cup venue. To do that they would have got most of the new stadium paid for, build a super market on the old one. They would have just about doubled there investment. Then of course the sad news we didn't get the world cup, the others paid out bigger bungs than we did, and got the cup. So that was a big blow to there thinking. Now its back to the drawing board and licking their burnt fingers.......
It's a long trip Beddy. I was in London until recently so that wasn't so bad but becoming an armchair fan is not ideal. I find myself shouting at SSN every Saturday! The Ridsdale thing was just a coincidence here, although I almost fell over when I heard he had been appointed as an adviser! I genuinely believe that the Leeds fiasco is the biggest injustice to football to date and could and should have been avoided. The new financial rules will make a big difference over the coming decade, particularly as they appear to be cheat proof (i.e. owners cannot just pay the club ã100m for a parking space to create mythical revenue) but until they kick in properly, the FA need to do something to protect clubs from carpet baggers.
Hopefully you have got us to rant at, with this new site feels right, well at least for the time being. Am not too keen on the Chat site as I feel it is just an outlet for gutter language at the moment. It may settle down, hopefully it does. Will look out for your posts and look forward to them. We, I am sure will do our best to keep you and others like you posted, on what is relevant to the club and some obviously that is not so relevant.
I'll second that. This forum does look like it can build into a pleasant and sizeable place to visit. I admit to being surprised that Ridsdale got the job. He is a proven failed person and surely shouldn't have a club under his wing. For me that was a bad error of judgement. I wonder what the Japs will be doing now as they see the value of the club disappear before their very eyes.
Rugby isn't as big down here anymore because Plymouth and the Pirates are both in the 2nd league. I think Plymouth are struggling too. I work in local school and I talk to the children and none of them support Plym. It just surprises me.
With all of the coverage and the money that that brings to the boys at the top I am not surprised in the slightest. For clubs down on the South Coast we simply have to win more often to keep enough support going to games. Success breeds success.
