These posters need to calm down, take a break from the internet for a bit (forever for some of them) and then come back on here and not make a **** out of yourself. Embarrassingly negative.
Also why are Fonte and Fox getting the blame here? I don't think they were at fault for any of the goals. Clyne slipped for the first goal, the second was very fortunate, and the third was just a good header. It's Man Utd, they score 3 goals because they're very good at scoring goals, not because the opposition defense cocked up.
I suspect Yoshida might get a run out next game. The negativity is madness though, although I do agree a little bit on J-Rod - would have pushed him into Rickie's position with Mayuka out left, but hindsight is terribly easy. We did well today. RvP is exceptional. Without him we'd have won.
Agreed. If any lessons are to be learnt here it was for Nigel regarding the substitutions (though hindsight makes that so easy) and our tendency to sit back too deep against teams like this.
I think Arsenal is actually something we should be looking forward to with relish. They are not right now by any stretch of the imagination one of the strongest sides in this division. Teams (admittedly with more experienced defences than ours) have kept clean sheets against them this season - teams who also can't score goals. We can certainly do the latter, and we will also have the attendant desire to prove ourselves we had against the Manchester teams (but not so much against Wigan). Would rather face Arsenal than Newcastle, Swansea, Sunderland etc. The only teams I'd prefer next game are Villa and Spurs (both only a point and two points respectively above us). I'd say that NA needs to take more blame than any of the players - he knows the defensive weaknesses better than any of us. Plus, if he was concerned about tired legs, it's not like they don't have two weeks off to rest. I'm sure the occasion would have kept them going. But he made a decision, and with that decision he was still within about ten minutes of us hailing him the second coming. Countless managers who have made solid decisions across the full 90 have still come away from a Man U game being pipped by late goals - that's what they do. So in short, if anyone;s to blame, it's NA - but I also don't think we can point the finger and have a go at him. The guy's come closer than we could have hoped. The only thing he embarassed us with is that awful dad joke in his Sky interview (we're the strongest team in the division because we're holding everyone else up)...
What are some of yours expectations! Shock Man U score late goals every week and Man city are the champions so im chuffed with the way we have played but obviously gutted about the results! Dont blame two players its the team that hasnt held on to the leads! Wigan game aside and eventhough we have no points we have done ourselves proud on tv twice! All the moaners keep it to yourselves and get behind the team! These players are the ones that will decide our fate and are more than capable of keeping us up! Im not happy about these results but will never fault my boys!
Don't understand even why Kelvin is getting any blame. Yes, two distributive errors - but he got away with them, and made his second penalty save of the season (again, taken by one of the world's best players). Hooiveld conceded his second penalty of the season (he's got to stop doing that!), not Fonte. Clyne slipped for the first goal, and what did you expect him to do for the third?
I thought (before Sky mentioned it) that Scholes was class. Never lost the ball and played some of the best passes. Really gave Man U that extra bit towards the end to turn it around.
Some saints fans need to get a life! You think criticising really helps! Yes there have been mistakes but everyone makes them! Reading some peoples quotes sounds like we are down already! I cant believe anyone could question the purchase of Ramirez! He will be a great player for us! No doubt! If you think we were going to slot straight into this league winning games and with no problems then welcome to the real world!
I have been supporting Southampton for well over 30 years (I am 37) , it makes not a jot what division we are in merely the team we send out , that team as I have said again and again is not good enough , mainly in defense , we are so weak in defense its woefeul and has stood out for the last 3 games . Fonte is crap at yjis level , no shame , I would be even worse , far far worse but it stil remains he is not a premierleague defender , you can carry 1 in 4 if you are good , we are not and we have to carry Fox as well .
Jesus Christ, you don't become a Premier League player over night, you have to get used to it. That's what the first ten games will be about, finding our feet. We've played the top two teams from last year, and nearly done them both, so shut the **** up you whining ****ing pricks.
Oh well we did our selfs proud on tv. Thats amazing. Do you think the league will comission some sort of cup? Or maybe they might award us a european place for trying ever so, ever so hard but still being bottom of the table? The simple simple fact is WE HAVE NO POINTS!!! That is nothing to be proud of
