I wrote the following after the Wigan game; "this defence will get us relegated"; watching this; I have no reason to change this view.
Though I don't disagree with this, I would say Man Utd's defence made more mistakes than us. We just didn't take the chances like they did. Once the front three were replaced, don't reckon we had much chance of scraping one back.
Fonte lost his legs with five minutes to go and that contributed to probably both goals. Don't think you can really blame Davis for either of them. Sickening, but if we play like that in every game we will finish in the top half.
Bad choice of subs in the end from NA - why oh why does he replace Lambert with Guly??? Why take the Punch off? He was having a great game!!! I feel sick!!!
thought we were excellent today, nothing to worry about, I think it was fatigue that allowed man u back into the game, against lesser teams we won't be so fatigued.
Too right - played 3 conceded 8. Stats like this don't lie. £28M spent and we still have no defence and not had a solid defence for a season now. We seem to have adopted the Kevin Keegan philosophy; try to outscore the opposition...WTF was the management thinking???
Get Yoshida and Gazzaniga in quick! That was nothing less than heartbreaking, after a really great performance by the front 6. Fonte and SKD just aren't up to the Prem I'm afraid.
Have all the faith in the world in Nigel but that was some piss poor tactical work. 65th minute, absolutely bossing the game, United don't even look in it. Sub off all your attacking players who are giving the defence nightmare, and try and sit back for 25 minutes against United. Our defence is clearly the weak point, trying to defend with 10 men behind the ball for 25 minutes was just asking to throw away the game. We were looking the more likely to score the goal, but we did the exact same thing we did against City and tried to park the bus. We put on Mayuka and JRod, a lethal counter attacking combo, and then didn't even try and set off any counter attacks, we (especially Fonte) just hoofed the ball into touch, understandable at times, but at others when we had time and space and room to break it was just asking for trouble. So happy with the effort the boys put in and the way we played for the first 60 minutes, but from then on in it was calamitous. A lot of people will say we were unlucky, but you make your own luck in this world, twice now we've had oppurtunities to take points away against huge teams, and we've thrown them away. Simple as that!
