Our ball retention was shocking, which meant our players chasing the ball for much of the match. We played like that last season & the players were burned out come the end.

Going forward we need to keep the ball more. Don't mind playing defensive away from home & hitting teams on the break but we've gotta play more football.

Anyway motd starting I'm off for a bit.

Once Rose is fit JC can be our midfield maestro in the event of catts leaving the field of play. Like C'est says prior to him going off he bossed midfield. When catts went Swansea took control.
Still a couple of weeks time we should have a few players in their rightful position and imo we will give a good account of ourselves this season against most teams inc the top four.

I massively disagree with this, we had one of the meanest defences in the league last season and have so far conceeded 2 goals in 3 games, which includes Arsenal and Swansea away. I really can't see where you're coming from with this statement. If it is on the back of just 1 game then I think you are going way OTT.

Just to correct you mate it was 0-0 down there last season, agree with you about Fletcher though, I'm still not convinced but obviously time will tell. Great start to his Sunderland career though and I pray he keeps it up.

Harry Redknapp was on MOTD last night and was saying Sunderland have done well getting Rose in as he believes he will go on to be a very good left back, that was very encouraging to hear from somebody who obviously knows his football and has worked with Rose. <ok>

My mistake mate for some reason thought it was 2-2. Agreed he has had a great start but, as you still early to be booking the red arrows and breaking out the keys to the city. Our defence does need work though at fault for the second and a bit ragged all game. Again though typical Sunderland no matter who the manager is we always sit back, get out of that habit and we will stop the daft goals.

Those are the first 2 goals we have conceded in 3 games? 2 clean sheets in 3 games?

Not quite sure what you are trying to say here mate?

I thought the 1st goal was really poor, we never closed Dyer down at all on the edge of the box, and he had way too much time to look up and play Routledge in. Don't think I will ever be fully confident with Mignolet in goal either, just 1 of them things.

Think it is just lack of fitness, no injury problems. Two weeks to get fit now although I think JC will keep the LB position for the Liverpool game with Rose on the bench.

Like Fletcher he's not match fit and you need to play games to get that.

cestria, spot on mate. I dont think Larsson is good enough for CM, he was slow and looked a bit lost, once we lost Catts, we lost any ball winners. Gardener is class and should be CM with Catts (if fit).

Looking forward to seeing Rose at RB, Fletch fit and Johnson to take more responsibility in midfield.

Good point, but thought MON was a bit negative when they went down to 10 men, Swansea were still looking for the winner, whereas we were happy with a point, little bit disappointing.

Still, we need a win soon to get our season on track.
