    http://www.mirror.co.uk/sport/football/news/newcastle-united-boss-alan-pardew-1295163

They just posted an article with the title along the lines of "Alan Pardew tells Senegalise pair to Improve or face axe"

    ROFLMAO.

Yes, tell both Ba and Cisse to score or **** off is a great plan.

Pardew didn't say that exactly, but he says he's got "tactical options to make them worry"

    XD

I hope Pardew isn't considering threatening them for their places. He's in his right to ask them to improve, but we need to be patient. We need both of them to perform, and the best way to encourage them is to be supportive and keep them training hard, not worrying them about their place XD.

We are in no position to tell them to buck their ideas up in such a way. You can't ask Cisse to be really effective playing 3 games in 7 days just after Ramadan.

You seem to forget, it's Pards job to tell them what he expects from them, it's what he gets paid for.

I can see Obertan being used as a second striker, personally I think that's where he should be playing

I dont think Pards would read the riot act but I do think we will have a quiet word with them to try and boost them up.
Obertan was unlucky on Thursday not to get on the scoresheet.

Yeah, but making ultimatums like losing their positions isn't gonna help, and it's not necessary a couple of games into the season.

Ba was slow last season because of Ramadan, and maybe it's the same this season, and also with Cisse.

Cisse has had time to rest now, so hopefully he'll be all guns blasing today.

Funny really, our entire team is dependent on Ba and Cisse up front bar no one. If last year was some measure of this year, we'd do well, but its not that's why I'm slightly worried if they aren't scoring. But what's the most important for us is to get wins! Let's do it today!

I agree. He's much more threatening making runs in behind the defenders. If we are to play him on the RW or as a support striker, instead of relying on him to skin players, which he can't do often at this level, we should get Cabaye and the others to slot balls through their defence for him to run on to.

Don't give him the ball and expect him to rape fullbacks or CB's, slot him through.

I actually agree what Pardew is saying although it is slightly premature when we've only played two premier league games, however this kind of thing should be kept in house because the media (as they already have done) will jump all over it and cause problems.

It is worrying that Ba & Cisse have zero competition though, effort levels may drop. Just hope young Adam Campbell can try and push them for a spot, looks class.

It already kind of has, with his Europa league debut, was on the bench for Chelsea aswell I'm sure, hes obviously highly rated and will get his chance IMO.

The problem with youth development in this country is peoples refusal to give the young players chances in the big games. It largely comes down to the big clubs. Barcelona are a prime example of how to do it right. Put in one or two youth players with a team of first teamers. Other clubs, Real Madrid, Man United, Chelsea etc. tend to just sign new players and throw them in all too often. That's why Barca are so far ahead of practically all the other clubs in the world. Giving Campbell game time from an early age is the only way he'll improve.

Also, does anyone think we may actually be better off if Senegal go to the ACON? We'd then get to keep Cheik and would be forced into signing a new striker?

I disagree man... Look, first of all I as much as all of you want to see him able to break into the first team. But how many players at the age of 17 can play at the breakneck pace of the premier league, and handle the physical requirements of it? He will definitely be eased into the side if he is talented enough, and even then it would mean the bulk of his playing time would be in the under18s and reserves. Which is why we can't count him as one of the strikers at the team. If he can't start a game and be relied upon to deliver, ala a Leon Best/Lovenkrands type of role, we can't count him in, since he's just an up-and-coming potential talent.

"tactical options"...is this Pards finally conssidering a 4-3-3 with only one of the Demba's in?

I hope so. Marv on LW and HBA on RW would be perfect. The two Dembas are too similar to gel as a partnership, and they clearly don't like being forced wide, so natural wingers are the way to go.

I disagree, in a 4-4-2 they should work together. Ba likes to go into the number 10 role and Cisse stays on the last man, so it should work. The problem at the moment I feel is Ba is too desperate to score so isn't playing his natural game and dropping deep as much.

The fact is though, we are terrible at 4-4-2, I'd much rather 4-3-3 with Marv and HBA and the Demba's rotating.
