He's a freaking legend, but sadly not a pace ridden centre back.

If there is any truth in it would be an absolute coup. Would be good as a coach let alone anything else.........

Wonder how much of the link is because he's a fave of Cortese, instead of someone who could fit in the team?

Badly. Can still kick a ball but he can hardly move.

Ok so as CF has closed the rumours thread I'll ask here: who, other than Del Piero, could be a potential free transfer signing? I noticed some other Italians are available like world cup winners Grosso and Zambrotta, and of course some English players such as Owen and Reo-Coker.

Personally I doubt we will sign any (I don't know of any available fast central defenders!) but are there any other free agents who could do a job for us?

The question may have been asked but I doubt this was a serious possibility. It wouldn't be anything like what we have seen from Nigel and Nicola so far. Anyway even if it was, presumably he would only be up for that lone CF slot, and our net dealings in that position on the last day was one out.

Reo Coker looks the best out of that lot, must be wanting a **** load of cash as he is a decent player.

That's the key isn't it? I'd probably take him on £20k but he's unlikely to accept that.
