I didn't see the game, but I find it amazing how some think he was terrible whilst others think he was fantastic.
Bizarre isn't it? I saw on a not bad stream and thought he was ok, but the extremes of different opinion are weird. But we seem to specialise in picking fights with each other nowadays, seems we cant cope with times of hope rather than adversity. I reckon that this is going to be a great season.
I reckon he was probably ok then as you say. The middle ground of the two extreme positions. I really hope you're right about this being a great season. We certainly have enough good players, but I remain unconvinced about Hughes. Still, he must be given time.
His best game for us. Tackled today. I think we have to play him.... some kinda clause - but he beat people coming forward..... more confidence - could be ok - not everything but good at what he does. I'm all for looking at the positives after the second half today.
He was neither (or both would be more apt). He did some great things going forward. His one-two's up the left with Park and linking with Zamora were superb. But his positional play was awful. Got caught out time and again. That's my tuppence-worth anyway.
I thought Fabio had his best game this season. Also though although he didn't create too much SWP seemed to have a lot more confidence than last season which is promising.
Yes, with 20 mins to go, after we went 2-1 down, I think Mark Hughes should have brought on a fresh Cissé & Hoilett for Zamora & Johnson (although the ex-Fulham pair combined nicely for our goal) and thrown caution to the wind defensively. What does he expect with Cissé on for just 5 mins (+ 5 min injury time)?
Fabio seems like hes getting better and his positional play wasnt too bad when he blocked a certain goal!
Interesting. I posted on the match thread about midway through the first-half that he was poor. But no sooner had I pressed 'send' than he started to function.
I think that part of the problem was that Fabio was constantly left exposed as Park dropped into the centre Same thing happened with SWP on the right, and we frequently allowed City to attack down our flanks May have been Hughes demanding that we packed central midfield, but frustrating to watch City taking advantage of the space they were given out wide
Improved defensively (which wouldn't have been hard) and made some intelligent runs. Looked much more mobile than previous and did the simple things well, which he didn't do v Swansea. All in all a very marked improvement and saved at least one certain goal. Agreed though that his left leg is merely for standing on.
I think we are vulnerable on both flanks as Bosingwa and Fabio are attack-minded defenders who often leave us exposed if the opposition 'double-up' on the counter, we really need to be playing 4-2-3-1 to avoid being caught out on the counter as we were so many times yesterday. It's a shame because Fabio has some excellent touch and can be a springboard for our counters but he is a defender and needs to play as one...
I think Fabio is getting better every game His tackling is very good He is out of position at times and makes the odd bad pass but is giving 100% on the field and is our best option in that position at the minute
From what i saw on TV i thought he did well. Like his brother loves going forward but can make mistakes at the back
It'll take him a while to adjust to the fact that he's playing in a side who aren't as good as UTD. Diligence in defence probably wasn't quite as necessary there considering how much time they spend attacking, and how many decent players there are to cover for defensive errors.
I saw Fabio make some good saving tackles, thought he was quite good defensively. Prefer Traore going forward. Maybe Traore at home, and Fabio away could be the best solution.
