This is the beauty of football, i can only state my personal opinion on what i saw today whether it be right or wrong to others is what makes this game great. I thought we were poor for 30 mins to the point of ridiculous on how we sat back but understand the attempt at trying to frustrate City and make them open their play to counter. Selecting Park and SWP on the flanks gave us that extra work rate that maybe hoillet or Adel can't do. Park for all his hype was pretty average but can run and run which sir fergie said was his main attribute for his selection in key away euro games. SWP put a shift in and made a cracking tackle in the first half. Nelson was solid and impressed apart from his movement for their second. Granero soon realised he wouldn't get too much time on the ball and adapted very quickly. Fabio who has divided opinion showed desire commitment in defence and attack but just lacked that natural left foot. He was in my opinion our best player and a good outlet out wide. I think the front men did a thankless task especially off the ball. Dyer had some good neat touches when he came on and looked up to pace considering. This was a game i expected to lose, after the first half hour i thought it could be a landslide but then i believe we showed we can be a match for anyone on and off the ball. I am not Hughes biggest fan but i can't knock his tactics or selection today. The biggest highlight for myself was seeing Faurlin in action. After going to norwich last week i considered giving this a miss but im glad i didn't now.
That's an almost flawless assessment as far as I'm concerned BOBBY. I would say that Fabio's positional sense at times is really bad but other than that I agree with your article 100%.
Can't ask for a more honest assessment than this. Those who blame MH for losing away to the champions, for Adel and traore throwing a strop, for the weather, trains running late etc.....that's just taking the p***.
It's very easy to second guess Hughes on tactics, substitutions, selections etc etc but without the aid of a crystal ball nobody can know what any different choices would have made to the game. For me he didn't do a whole lot wrong. As said the first period we were all over the place but once we found our feet we looked a match for near enough anybody. Ifs, buts and maybes but from the start of the second half we were always in with a shout of grabbing a draw out of that game.
And I thought you a good clean living boy from the Arctic! I couldn't watch the game yesterday but seen most of it now in replay. Unsurprisingly, we look strongest in midfield though we still give the ball away far too much. Granero looks a very good buy. But we still look weak at the back, hope M'bia is really good - we need him! First time ever I have seen Green have an Ok game! And we also look thin up front, especially without Cisse on the pitch - don't understand why we don't play our main goal scoring threat, either up front in 4 4 2 or in the 3 or 5 in a 4 2 3 1, 4 3 3 or 4 5 1, which I'd much prefer.
we failed to close City down in the first half and let them just take the game to us in the second half we matched them and put them under pressure in the end City started to play more on the counter attack because QPR were seeing more of the ball we are looking better every game and Chelsea and Spurs have got 2 difficult fixtures ahead of them
We need to take these positives into our next fixtures. With the international break we have more time to work together on the training pitch.
How many of our guys will be on international duty? Mackie, Taarabt, Traore (?), M'bia (?),..........?
I think there were a lot of positives coming from the game Granero and Faurlin looked like they could be good together. AJ and BZ up front gave us loads in defense, BZ came way to deep sometimes, but the lacked the cutting edge of and out and out striker. Plenty of holes still to be plugged but overall good signs of things to come.
