Come on pal. 7.7/10 is a bit harsh. I'd say at least 7.785/10 ;)

He had a part in our third goal were he played a good ball OTT for Simpson to run onto and square to Quinn!

At least i think it was Elmo who passed it

I don't think Sunderland fans were too wide of the mark with some of their criticisms, but he certainly looked better than they said he was.

Regardless of how crap he may turn out to be, though, he still always looks willing to get the ball into the box from out wide, and that's something we've missed for a long time (and so I'd start him all the time, on the off-chance he can get just one decent, dangerous ball into the 18-yard box in the 90 minutes). With him on the right, and Aluko on the left, we might actually see a few good balls being whipped into the box each game. The likes of Stewart don't offer us that.

PS. We might even see The German score if he can get his noggin on one!

PS. PS. I'd give Elmo a 7/10 for today's performance.

Has a good back pass to the goalie. All of 70 yards although the first attempt failed miserably.

He looked decent today, particularly up against our old boy Ricketts, who I thought looked one of their best players.

Have you got any other **** players? We'll have them if they're all like Elmo

His crossing was excellent and not only that but we used it properly. We got him crossing it every time he had the ball and got players in the box.

Glad to hear Elmo had a decent game, he always gave 100% for us but it was his decision making in the Prem that let him down. He is a great athlete and really good in the air. He could be a really good player if he can just get his head up and pick a pass instead of taking his man on and losing it which he did for us a lot of the time which is why he got a bit slagged off at Sunderland........I think he will do very well for you this season with a good run in the team, he also always seemed to be a decent bloke too which is always a bonus with players these days.

Good luck with Bruce, he will get you play offs I reckon but be ready to have a few head scratching moments along the way.

I honestly thought that Elmo had a good game. Yes, he lacks pace but he does something that we have lacked the last 2 Seasons... He put the ball in the box to be challenged.

To me, that's exactly what we needed; someone to put the ball in a dangerous area to be contested and make us a threat instead of getting to the by-line and passing it back to our defence.

We actually look a threatening, deadly side for once, and it's exciting to think of what we may actually be able to achieve this year. There's much room for optimism! <ok>
