I stayed in and watched it, far cheaper.

And please, before we start this 'you support your club less' thing, im a student and i cant afford. Doesnt mean i like Mercedes any less than someone driving one.

Good game though, off to the rugby tomorrow!!

I can understand the reason Ed. I live in Germany & get to 1 game a blue moon.
What with the cost of a ticket, or the cost of taking kids, some fans pick & choose games & no doubt being live on TV played a big part today. But it just goes to show that ppl are being priced out of the game.
I was very happy that the game was on the PC, that´s the way I get to see about 10 - 12 games a season & what a game it was. Kept saying we needed a 2nd though.

I was thinking the ground looked very empty. I guess the game being on TV had something to do with it, and also like you say, the price is a massive factor.

I watched it at home, but I live near Reading so really don't get to many games.

Well pleased with the win though, maybe got a bit lucky with the penalty but probably deserve it after some recent decisions. I know it's early in the season but that win was massive IMHO, only 3 points off top :D

Lost 3 on the bounce, on tele, weird kick off time and high ticket prices.

Was never going to be a sellout.

The seats I got just behind the bench (3 rows back next to the tunnel) for my Dutch colleague (working in leics for the week) and myself for Tuesday's game was £12 each. The same seats for today would've cost £38.

    We're a championship club FFS.

Thought the atmosphere was great in spite of the small crowd- fans really got behind the players after half time and certainly helped with the slightly bizarre period in which we could have got 3 penalties (the one we actually got was the least blatant one I have to say).

Crowds are down across the board, the combination of increasing prices and falling incomes are bound to have a negative effect.

Good Q ed. You should put this out as an article btw.

Erm!.... again a good Q ed.... I would have to say a plastic fan is someone who, for i.e, became a Man City fan last season after being a Chelsea fan for about the last say 5. It´s a very hard Q tbh. I mean you have ppl who really love football but ain´t got the cash to pay for it so they´ll only go to the 'BIG' games so they can get to see a top team play (going back to the prem days at Filbert St.) Then there´s the family (the misses) & work commitments. You´ve also got the fans that just decide that this week they´ll go & watch a game for a change & what with the TV & PC, they´re always going to pick & choose .

My bro has been priced out of going down LC so he gets his fix from non-lge footie, my dad does the same although he does´nt live in Leicester anymore BUT & it´s a big BUT, they still need to go to a match somewhere.

In an ideal world if I lived in Leicester & my job/cash/family would let me I´d be down the City, home & away, every week. I was like a little kid at the Sunderland game even though it was only a knock about in front of 11,500 odd fans (1st game live for ...well, far to long).

If you love LCFC whether you go or not you´re still a fan. In a FILBERT shell we all have our reasons for going or not.

Good win yesterday & played really well too. FFS though NP get rid of JB in Jan.

Have to admit for a Championship club some ticket prices are a little pricey. But they have dropped the price of tickets in some parts of the ground. I paid £25 for my ticket, might be stuck near the corner flag but you see the game just as well, Untill the likes of Beckford and Waghorn come down to do there stretches and start sticking there arse in front of your view<yikes>

Yesterday I had my Blackpool supporting boss come to Leicester for the game and for a couple of reasons, not least they don't sell match day tickets for L1 where my season ticket is, I got us a couple of tickets in B1 in the West Stand - One ticket was discounted down to £18.50 taking my season ticket into account, the other was £39 <yikes> Mind you we had a bet on the game, loser paid for the tickets
    <party>

The term plastic fans is bandied about a lot and is very much over used - Clubs like Leicester don't have many and looking out for Leicester's results, but not attending many games doesn't make a fan plastic anymore than someone who is encouraged to attend by a good run. I think the only time a club the size/stature of ours can truly say we have a plastic fan is one who attends wembley cup/play off finals and whom has no clue who we are playing/played or how we are doing at any other time

im not critcising anyone and no offence is intended but supporters are in groups at all clubs

a)those that go to every game home or away regardless of distance or cost----im not in this group any more but i was from 1967-1971
b)those that attend every home match unless there is an urgent family or work commitment----i fall into this category
c)those that due to work or finances will attend as often as they can
d)those that wouldnt dream of going to the game if it was on tv----again, no criticism because its everyones choice
e)those that would go if they got a free ticket and we were playing man utd --- these people miss out because sky cover the games ok but theres no greater buzz than being there when the good moments occour

all clubs have these groups of supporters and as i said before its their choice--maybe the phrase plastic fans was not the best but to me that is groups d & e

Agree with pretty much all of the above boys, very small crowd but great atmosphere, L1 was rocking for long periods.

Think we got a bit lucky with the pen, thought the one on Dyer was more blatent to be honest.
The clearance off the line from Dyer, im pretty sure the lad knew nothing about, all in all tho i think we shaded it, and its about time we did have a bit of luck this season.

As for ticket prices, its a def that they are prob the most single important factor in attendances, i did 14 away games last yr, as well as having a season ticket in L1, and i'll tell ya now, there is no way im doing that this yr, its far far too expensive, and ive seen too many matches where the players look like they don't really give a s**t, tho i have to say that was def not the case yesterday, decent performance, good 3 points<party>

My wife and I are STHs, but did not go to the game yesterday - we watched it on Sky. My wife is disabled, but the reason we didnt go was the change of KO time to accommodate Sky. We had tickets to go to Mallory to see the Kaiser Chiefs. That gave us the choice of going to the game, eating ****, then joining traffic to head straight off to Mallory - OR - have a decent meal at home, watch the game on TV and drive the 2 miles to Mallory to see the Kaisers. As I am approaching my 59th birthday later this month, it just made sense to take the second option.
Am I plastic? Well, I dont melt in the sun, followed LCFC home and away in the early 70s. Bleed blue white and gold.
To me a plastic fan is someone who says they support a team but have never attended any of their matches.
Like OLM says, with people struggling to meet mortgage payments and feed families, then priorities have to be made. As much as I love LCFC, if I heard that someone spent their mortgage money on tickets for a match, then I wouldnt think 'wow, superfan' - but more likely to believe them to be 'right planks'.

Plastic fans are those who live and come from Leicester but "support" Man U/Liverfool etc even with no association with the teams ( such as your grandad taking you there as a boy etc). Fans who follow a club purely for the glory.

I can't accuse any Leicester fan of being plastic because I'd say "what glory!!!"

Prices and work stop me attending games but I go when I can regardless if who we play

One who doesn't go to the games, slags them off at every opportunity then jumps on the bandwagon soon as we win a few. Always calls for the Managers head even though they havent a clue about Football. True fans are always pissed off at losing no matter what, but stick with the team through thick or thin, go to as many games as possible regardless of where they live........oh yes and Hate Hull and Charlie18 :bandit:
