Not wumming but just saw a clip on sky where Wenger was asked if Chamakh (spelling?) and Bendtner would be leaving and he seemed to struggle not to say I feckin hope so! Seems a very different approach from him...normally he never gives away negative views of his players. So it got me thinking...is he a) Just generally frustrated or b) do they (the 2 players) deserve his indifference by playing badly? Was also wondering whether the Arsenal fans were getting edgy after 2 games or are you looking a bit more long term? I think you'll be 4th as I can't see us, Liverpool or toon over taking you and Chelsea will leap frog us all into 3rd or 2nd place. To be honest Everton could end up being your challengers. Like I said... not wumming... just curious
Edgy after two games? Not really. While our attack is not firing, at least our defence is showing signs of improvement. We have three new players in attack, and they need time in matches and on the training pitch.
So far Giroud is worse than Bendther was at his best. And Podolski is worse than Giroud. They need time of course. But time will be running fast for them. A quality player shines immediately. He may not score, but nevertheless class shines through. We see it with Cazorla, we see it with Hazard. I can not say it about Giroud or Podolski.
And what has he done wrong? His first touch is good, his movement is good... of course he can't show himself as well as Cazorla, he's a striker and gets less of the ball.
Any news on the Essien rumours? He could be the missing link in the Arsenal midfield this season if it does go through!
People say TH14 and DB10 did not shine immediately but they forget that these players showed form and glimpses of what might be. Podolski has impressed by his willingness to drop back and defend. For that I applaud him. Giroud looks to me as just clueless. That out of the box long range shot was good but is it a foretaste of what is to come? I have my doubts because in the box he and Podolski were nowhere. Wenger and that chief scout of his said Giroud was a replacement for van Persie. They are surely having a laugh. I am disappointed in the transfer business of this summer and it can only end up in disappointment for the club. Nothing will change until the manager and the owner are replaced. Wenger has lost his touch and our owner only has the midas touch about him.
No they didn't - It took DB10 an age to settle. Henry took until 28th Nov to score his second goal for Arsenal. You haven't given these guys any chance at all.
When Dennis Bergkamp was brought to the club, we already had an established goal scoring striker. When Henry was brought to the club, we already had a goal scoring striker, this is what you fail to take into account. There's no problem in a striker taking his time to find his feet, but when you're only main strikers are new strikers taking their time to find their feet, then that IS a problem. So your comparisons with DB and TH are way off the mark and not comparable at all to our current situation.
To be fair, Giroud certainly didn't look that good in France either. he came across as an inferior Mario Gomez. He could poach a goal, but couldn't do much more, Belhanda was the real reason for Montpelier's success.
