After a better start to the season than some expected, We welcome Blackburn Rovers to Elland Road who under Steve Kean have gained 7 points from the opening 3 fixtures. Team News Leeds Leeds are still without Paul Green who suffered an injury in the first game against Wolves. Warnock is still waiting on the fitness of David Norris who missed the League Cup clash against Oxford. Byram will be hoping to retain his place in the starting 11 after having a brilliant performance against Oxford in which he scored a brilliant chipped goal. Still unclear wheather or not Diouf will be playing as he has still yet to sign a contract but rumours have gone round saying he will be signing. Other absentees are Leigh Bromby and Davide Somma. Blackburn Jordon Rhodes the new £8 million pound signing from Huddersfield could make his debut against Leeds, Colin Kazim Richards is touch and go for the clash against the Whites after missing the last two games and Leon Best is a long term absentee. Dangermen Leeds Luciano Becchio- Last season Becchio missed alot of it due to injury but still managed to score a few goals in the process. This season he has started very well with 4 goals, 3 of them coming in the League. With the potential of a full firing Becchio and Mccormack defences should be worried. The Beast- Rudolph joined in this transfer window and has quickly become a fans favourite. Bone crunching tackles and chasing his men all over the pitch he is showing everyone what sort of player Leeds needed and has now got. He has also got an eye for goal, scoring a long range drive in the midweek win over Oxford and a 40 yard effort smashing off the crossbar. Jordon Rhodes, Watch out. Blackburn Rovers Kazim Richards- He may be a doubt for this game but if he is named in the starting 11 he could provide some problems for the Leeds defence. He's managed to get 2 goals in the league this season and whilst ever he has a player of Pederson's quality providing for him he will always be a threat. Jordon Rhodes- The £8 million pound signing will have alot of pressure on his shoulders but if he can perform to what we know he is capable of he will be up there this season with the top scorers. In 126 appearances for Huddersfield he managed to score 73 goals so we know he has an eye for goal. But can he get past The Beast or Jason Pearce? We shall find out. Expected Leeds Lineup Kenny Peltier Lees Pearce White Byram/Diouf Norris Austin Varney Becchio Mccormack Enochs Prediction I feel a whole lot more confident since Warnock has come in and brought the correct players in. Blackburn may have got 7 points from 9 but I still think there not the team to beat this season and there is more pressure on them than what they can handle. If Austin and the back 4 are on form I can't see us conceding but even if we do concede I think the chances are we will outscore them. Elland Road is slowly becoming a fortress aswell so I genuinely think we can leave with the 3 points. Leeds 2-0 Blackburn. Over to the Elland Road faithful, Keep banter flowing. X
Hello, Blackburn fan here. I thought I'd chip in here as the Blackburn board is dead. Not expecting too much for this game, best reasult we could hope for I think would be a draw.
Can see us win a sneaky 1-0 win. Keeny Peltier Drury Lees Pearce Byram Austin Brown White Becchio McCormack
Elland - Can you believe how much the elland road crowd have taken to EHD? It's great by the way, i for one have been swayed.
I like that team Elland, similar to the midweek one, but maybe Varney instead of White would be an option with EHD to come off the bench. I don't know, I actually think we have some major selection choices, rather than a threadbare squad. I really liked the Brown Austin partnership, and would like ot see that given a run in some league games, while making sure we don't burn out Byram. Things are looking up
Yep with the Brown / Austin parnership, its gonna add a bit more bite. You remember the season in88/89 that got up to the old div 1, we had Vinney Jones, Chris Kamara, Batty, Noel Blake, Vince Hillaire, all hard nuts....
Kenny, Peltier, Lees, Pearce, Drury, Diouf, Norris, Austin, Varney, McCormack, Becchio Subs Ashdown, Byram, Kisnorbo, White, Poleon, Gray, Brown Same team v Posh Read more: http://www.leeds.vitalfootball.co.uk/article.asp?a=292256#ixzz25DyqQBMb
2-0?? Was out mowing the lawn for 5 minutes and came back in and it's 2-0! Can we get back into this? What would you do if you were the manager? I would a) bring on Brown for Norris and push Austin up b) Swap Peltier to centre back and Lees to right back c) swap McCormack to midfield and Diouf up front d) See how it goes and possibly bring on Byram for Varney at half time
I take the blame for the first goal. I was just commenting that Blackburn had a woman playing for them (according to the BBC site, a Ms. Ollson) when bugger me the ****er scores. Talk about immediate divine retribution.
Another Goooooooaaaaaaaaaaaaaaalllllllllllllll - nearly. Super header from Diouf and save from Robbo this time
Sounds like they are cutting through us too easy at the moment - Worrying about how bad the commentators are saying Peltier is at the moment.
