I really like the look of IMPERIAL DJAY 12-1 Chester 3.05 trip, track and ground ideal and runs off a very fair mark.

Why so confident on midsummer sun RV? I'm a big rosslyn castle fan so willing to forgive his last run and will be where my money is going unless you can convince me otherwise! Haha

Im having my biggest bet of the season tomorrow. Killarney 3.20 Cest Notre Gris 4/1 Really like this one tomorrow, he finished a length behind Count Of Limonade in a Leopardstown maiden but he was picking up strongly after being outpaced off the bend, I think you can forget his next run at Gowran, he was never travelling for Kevin Manning and didnt pick up at all, nothing came to light but it clearly wasnt his running. He won very easily in the end at Galway next time from Chips Are Down and Einsteins Folly who both went on to win handicaps, again getting outpaced and looking as though he wanted stepping up in trip, the handicapper took a bit of a liberty and gave him 12 pounds but he had obviously underestimated him in the first place with the mark of 75. He meets Count Of Limonade here 3 pounds better off from the Leopardstown maiden run and I expect him to turn that form around comfortably, I dont think Count is progressing much and with the extra furlong and a half, I fancy Cest Notre Gris to really come into his own and be far too strong for these. I really like the animal, hes straightforward, progressive, has a good attitude and he has a touch of class about him, I think he is way overpriced at 4/1 against the 11/8 Count Of Limonade.
I shall also be having a bit each way on LATE TELEGRAPH 20-1 Sandown 4.00. Ran a decent race behind Kirthill at York recently and has been dropped a whopping 5lbs. Blinkers applied for the first time and I cant see him being far away if they do the trick. The fancied horses in the race all have serious question marks over their last runs so its worth taking a chance on an outsider.
3.00 Chester ICON DREAM 14/1 A horse I have kept tabs on for around 18 months because it does have a lot of ability and a lot of stamina. The problem is it started off being very harshly handicapped but showed its turn could be near when a close 3rd to Il DeRe in the big stayers race at Newcastle. Today it is drawn one and if Graham Lee can get this horse out well and race very prominently, I think it might be difficult to catch him. I kmow RV likes Midsummer Sun and I can see why, but I wonder if there are one or two just that bit better treated. A good race.
Great card at Sandown, but both Gp3s are very competitive whilst the handicaps appear insoluble, so no bet there for me. Meanwhile, it's always a pleasure to watch the racing at Chester, but I never feel confident betting on such an idiosyncratic course. I would have been interested in Ballista in the 5.5f handicap at 4.20, but he can't win from stall 14. So it's off to Beverley, where 8 (hopefully) go to post for the 1m2f handicap at 3.15, making Ed Dunlop's Spirit of The Law, who should get the easy ground he seems to need, an attractive e/w punt at about 8/1. Has a tendency to pull hard, which accounts for poor run at Leicester last time out, but if Paul Mulrennan can get him settled at the front he can confirm his previously progressive profile. The stable is flying, and this is their only runner of the day.
In his first 3 races he bore the No 2 on his saddle cloth and didn't win. In his 4th race, which he won, he bore the No 4. Today he bears the No 2 again. Clearly this horse has no chance. Seriously, good luck Joe.
Still await posting my first winning selection. So I'll go for a nice wee yankee to make up for it....... Bev 2.05 Zero Game 3/1 Bev 4.50 Avon Breeze 11/8 MR 4.45 Snowed In 9/2 San 2.50 - Master of War 5/2. Of to watch my local rugby team's 1st home game of the season picking my winnings up on the way back - progress would be double odds for 1 winner tho!

Timeform gave their 5 stars to Edge Closer in the first at Sandown - won 5/1 "Timeform says: Not the force of old, but has dropped to an attractive mark and has shaped as if his turn his near for new yard this summer, fading late from a moderate draw at Newmarket last time. Interesting."
