So after that (non) event, is 'deadline day' fabricated to boost Sky viewing figures?

Another great day's entertainment on Sky. Where would sky sports viewing figures be without it.

In the end I switched on Farve Larve and was better entertained. In fact, David Pleat sounded like me and my views on all the hype and inaccurate transfer fees being batted around.

Never mind, the loan window opens next week!

No idea, I don't pay for Sky Sports, as I'm only really interested in The Mighty Tigers, I get all the updates quickly either here, or on twitter.

It was funny having read this earlier in the day to see just how many of them did happen:

    http://trivialpursuits.org/2012/08/31/the-madness-of-transfer-deadline-day/

I counted 9 of them happening, if you count Mancini early in the day saying he wanted 4 or 5 players as making the appeal they talked about. Plus on top of that they even said at the end of the window that they'd given Big Ben a rest this year so there was a nod towards a 10th.

Scotland still have an hour left though.

Yes in answer to the question - January usually sees the most ridiculous deals (most entertaining day?) as clubs and managers panic buy

Shock horror, David Pleat's stuck in the past and one of the dullest commentators i've ever had the misfortune of listening to. Pearson could give him a run for his money as football's dullest personality.

I'm by no means a fan of the SSN deadline day "spectacular". By no means do i sit infront of the telly all day and watch a bunch of mongs in Stoke work themselves up to fever pitch & get excited by a ****e transfer at last knockings, or see how a news reader tries, in a daft attempt, to boost their own popularity- Jim White just walking into the studio was cringeworthy. But, i am interested in who goes where.

Noticed they used Browny as the expert on the show all day. Interesting to see since he didn't buy very well when he was with us.

What i did learn form all this- the money they use for transfers is a joke- spending billions in a month is not a good thing. Also, people are so desperate they'll do anything- Dempsey spat his dummy out & wanted to leave Fulham but Liverpool didn't come in for him, so in spite he left for Spurs. Also QPR have signed a whole new eam and i want them to get relegated.

The whole 'Transfer Window' idea is nonsense IMO, It's like that big food shop everyone does the day before christmas You just end up paying over the odds for crap you don't want. I had a cheeseboard with a better turning circle than Ibrahima Sonko. (Referring back to our PL season, He hasn't just joined us)

I turned over to it quite a few times, I couldn't watch it all day but as a non event? No, not for me I like it.

I know that a few people on here are 100% only hull city and don't care what's going on anywhere else, but I do quite enjoy general football.

I saw a bit of the last hour, but turned over as I could not stand Jim White patronising he co-presenter Natalie. Nearly every sentense he included some reference too her, which got right up my nose.

    I heard about this.

My mate at work told me that Sky announced the 'breaking news' that "Jim White was in the house".

    FFS.

I've seen him on telly, and he's incredibly hard to watch. Very, very irritating.

"Jim White is in the house", not my house he's not!

    I mean, I ask you.

Interesting transfers and loans in the Championship.

Brighton might have had the best day with Dobbie, Hammond, Lopez and Orlandi.

A TV channel wants to boost viewing figures? :O

I don't buy in to these crazy conspiracy theories.

Just a bit of fun isn't it, nobody forces anybody to watch it. I'd probably have the same reaction as John in Aberdeen about the patronising guy though.

and they kept mak-smith too. that's going to be some team! the championship is now 'officially' the best league in the world with the likes of forest, brum, ipswich, etc making good signings. however, the debt must also be racking up!!!!!

I have to admit i do enjoy the day as a whole its interesting to watch and i disagree with the fact you don't get value for money with signings, like Tony Pulis says he leaves it late as you tend to get better value for money as clubs like Liverpool had to sell so they got Adam at decent value.

I wonder how long it will be before someone listens to the bleedin' obvious?

I am just surprised that a Murdoch sponsored full-time European League is never mooted more often. NFL styled European fanchises must be inevitable, with everything else merely incidental in finance terms!

I know Steve Kean gets a lot of grief on here but never a truer word spoken when he called Allardyce bent.

Sky just taking advantage of something FIFA set up. The transfer window is a crazy idea and we should go back to how it was. imo. In saying that i do love the PL panic clubs and who can do nothing now until January when the whole "Last Day Farce" goes again on the 31/1/13.!!! Jim White take a BoomSong.
