lets put how rich that **** is into perspective he is 1 of the richest owners,he is coining it in off us,i watched the game last night there must of been every square inch of possible advertising space covered by sports direct crap no doubt its his ground so its free or mates rates and teams like everton,.stoke and sunderland are spending more, the owners of everton is a millionaire ours is a billionaire the difference lets put it like this 1 million seconds is 12 days,1 billion seconds is 33 years, ashley is worth 1 point 3 at the last count,so keeping the players we have shouldnt come into question and neither should an extra mill for debuche
Criminal that he wouldn't fork out an extra few quid for Debuchy. We have a thin squad as it is, without losing Raylor. I can't understand it, we play all year to get into Europe, then when we do, he puts a weak team out. We just haven't got strength in depth. Another couple of injuries would cripple us, and he's quibbling about a few quid. Crazy.
Penny wise, pound foolish. In the long term the money invested to keep a winning team would have brought him a lot more in than the interest earned on it. That plus it would have guaranteed sell out crowds for every game.
Yeah but our billionaire is self-made and he understands the value of money and refuses to be ripped off. Come FFP we will be sat pretty with a decent squad and a stable club.
so am I, but I have to invest in new machinery each year before my older ones pack in, and the competition have a chance to overtake me same thing but on a different level
Of course! But the cost of the machines you buy don't cost 10x as much because the factory next door decided to pay over the odds.....
I remember a Simpsons parody of Bill Gates when he smashes up Homer's 'HyperGlobalMegaNet.com' "business" and laughs "you didn't think I got rich by writing a lot of cheques?!"... Ashley bought the club from a weasel (Shep) for a small sum. NUFC were ok, had some big names on the books, a recent Euro pedigree and had been splashing the cash and filling the ground. He didn't look under the rug. When all the hidden debt magically appeared, it turned out he'd actually paid over a quarter of a billion quid for a club on the verge of collapse. Oops. So he tried to sell it. On eBay. Three times. Then he gave up and realised you couldn't sell a turd just because you thought it was a Mars Bar when you bought it and told buyers it was a Mars Bar. So he started polishing. Every debt went into a transparent, "interest free" pot called "U OWE ME" and he, in return, took complete control. Pardew came in. Plans were explained... "I need a stable environment, free from bad press. I need low wages, cheap players, young players. We will sell anyone for stupid money, but you won't get that money back unless an equally impossible-to-refuse deal comes up" He needs it, because this is the only way he can get a big stack of cash from a Yemeni Prince.
As a football fan, of course I want the best players at this club! I want Fashley to bring in Messi and Ronaldo because we all know the guy could afford it. He went and splashed the cash on day one and got his fingers badly burnt by it though.
??????????? I pay more to get the best machines because I want to be the best in my industry once others start buying the same equipment, then they are as good as me e.g.small fish, big pond
The transfer market is vastly inflated due to Chelsea and Man City... You'd have to be a fool not to realise that.
we are not asking him to buy Messi or Ronaldo (ok some might) what we need is obvious unless you were not at the game last night
It all snowballs. Pay an extra £2m for Debuchy... People see that they can squeeze extra money out of us if they play hardball, we end up paying £2m extra for every other bugger too. Play the patience game and the seller resigns himself to the reality if the situation ... A la cisse, we get a player for vastly cheaper than the original asking price. The club have proved it works. Who are we to doubt?
When my folks left Newcastle I went to school in the west of Scotland. I'd say about half my friends are Rangers fans. I can guarantee that every one of them will wish that a 'horrible tight cockney twat' had turned up in time to rescue their club 'on the verge of collapse' and that they now had a 'turd of a club to polish' - and support in their original format! FFS - This summer I haven't just been taking the piss out of mackems, but out of chelsea fans, liverpool fans, Villa fans and every other team's fans that we finished above!! Last night I was at a ****ing European game - not something I've been able to do for a while. We have a team that on its day can beat anybody in the league. We have a team that is 'on its day' more often than it isn't. We are one of the few teams breaking even. I love being a Geordie right now. But you know what? Even if we really were as **** as you've been making out tonight, I'd still love being a Geordie and I'd still be trying to be a bit more positive than you are being. Chill out. Do you need a hug?
I can understand some of you guys are in line with MA's tight purchasing approach. But let's put things into perspective, we're dangerously thin at fullback and we only have 2(+1/2) fit strikers now. Besides , Raylor was just lost for literally the entire season. If you needed to buy a book that costs $5 that is sold within 5minutes of walking distance from your house, that costs $3 that requires you to travel 2 hours to get there and switch public transport twice, shouldn't we just pay the extra $2? The ideal situation ala Cisse just doesn't happen every time. I hope you guys aren't forgetting the kind of strikeforce we had to see for half the season after Carroll was sold for 35million. We had only Shola, Best , Lovenkrands to count on.
I usually give MA the benefit of the doubt - since it is his money - but I have to say I am disappointed by the transfer activity in this window. More than anything I was expecting someone to replace Best (not necessarily a marquee signing, but a workman like improvement) and either a LB or RB. My main worry now is that a lack of ambition feeling may start to pervade the club, and we'll start to see some of our stars agitating for a move. I hope not, but the possibility now is there. That said, it's still my club, and I will always support it.
