Your opinion is far preferable to your transfer predictions, but I just am not sure Gabbidon is better than Seaborne. He's past it.

He deserves a chance as he did well in the championship & was playing well alongside Fonte before the injury.

Yes I agree with you it is unfair to assume he isn't worth a shot.

Lad deserves a chance he has done well to get back to where he is now.

Jack Cork can play at CB remember. In fact, he played there when we initially had him on loan in 08/09 and was virtually our best player.

atleast you could aknowledge my opinion without shooting it down. He may be old but he has well over 100 premier league appearances. he is far from rubbish

It does make you wonder why he is on a free & no one has snapped him up yet if he is such a good prospect ?

interview with him a while back said he was waiting for a premier league offer. Not many premier league clubs need a fourth choice centre half

Gabbidon was a good player but is too injury prone and not sure what he is like these days. Seabourne is still young and maybe he will prove some people wrong given the chance. Who would have thought Puncheon would return to the fold?

Seabourne was playing well until he was injured so now fit deserves his place in the squad and should he be called upon there is no reason why he can't do a good job.

My only concern is that we lack premier league experience in this position, however neither Clus or Killer had premier league experience when they came here and they were a great partnership at that level.

Shooting it down? That's a rather dramatic way of saying 'disagreeing' isn't it?

Look, he was decent in his prime but he's 33 now and has already been in decline for a few years. Seaborne isn't brilliant but right now I would rate him as better than Gabbidon. Genuinely. What more can I say?

What happened to all the Reading fans who after the first few weeks were infesting Saints Twitter and boards going on about Pogrebnyak, McCleary et al?

Well now the window has closed.

    Lets compare...

    Keepers: Taylor - Gazzaniga
    Centre-Backs: Mariappa - Yoshida
    Full-Backs: Gunter/Shorey - Clyne
    Central Midfielders: Guthrie - Davis
    Attacking Midfielder/Winger: McCleary - Ramirez
    Strikers: Pogrebnyak - Mayuka/Rodriguez

Pogrebnyak is a good player but then you have to factor in age etc. I don't think there's anyone there that they have signed that I particularly envy.

Also, I still think our squad from last season was equal or maybe slightly stronger than theirs. Agree? Disagree?

Signing another CB as cover will stifle Stephens progress to the first team, which is not what NC & NA want. We are trying to bring our own youngsters through as well remember.

Oh ps, i respect everyones previous opinions too ! <smooch>

What will be very interesting is what the new signings do to the dynamics of the team. Players don't just get dropped in and do their own thing. Assuming Yoshida will play, will he partner Jos or Jose as he can play either side (apparently). He may suit one of them more than the other and improve that player's game. Seaborne is good enough...I remember how concerned we were about his absence when he was injured. And, as others have said, we have to give youngsters a chance.
How will Ramirez affect the game for other midfielders..how will they adapt to suit him and is he enough of a team player to adapt to them. Unless he's as good as Le Tiss, he will have to fit in with us and not just do his own thing. Mayuka seems powerful...which strikers will work best with him. Lee isexciting and on his way back.
Absolutely fascinating and must be mouthwatering for a tactical manager like Adkins.

Our quality youngsters need to play. Imagine being Jack Stephens or Luke Shaw .........and then realizing your on the books at QPR!! Sadly this is not FM / FIFA 13. There's no off switches. We've gone from a selling club to a building club that as just spent 30 million on quality not quantity. We gotta be happy right?

Hooiveld & Fonte have not been torn to shreds and no one can say how good Yoshida is yet for the PL.
Sure Adkins is after someone who is better than what we have and players like Gabbidon would be a pointless signing.
We shall leave those type of just incase signings to QPR and West Ham.

As has been mentioned it all depends how good Stephens is, Adkins must rate him and I think he'll be 4th choice over seaborne.

Fact is we can now perm any 2 from 5 with additionally Cork or Fox in an emergency. More than enough IMO.

I know Cork can be used in an emergency, but the only emergency would be a bomb landing on the training ground whilst he was inside getting a coffee. No!

Think Adkins is continuing rating his team and also rating his defence. Probably he trusts his defence more as a lot of people over here! Thought you all said a little while ago: "in Adkins we trust". Let's do so!
