im not to bothered about a striker but i think we really need a midfielder who can run a game and win a tackle, maybe an Ashbee but with more ability
I didn't mention his name, as I thought we were trying to keep it quiet, but it seems not... Philip Buckingham ‏@PJBuckingham The midfielder #hcafc are trying to sign is Sheffield United's Stephen Quinn. Not done yet but had it confirmed from sources are both clubs
If this transfer deadline is anything like previous ones I'm not expecting much. Maybe Moussi from Forest but I think our socks will all still be on at bedtime.
I thought when we played Ipswich he looked crap to be honest, but I only saw him once so I wouldn't like to stake my reputation on it as it could have just been a bad game for him.
Is this Quinn guy any good? I don't know anything about him. Is he a defensive or attacking midfielder?
My thoughts - plus he's been in League one for a while now and no one else has taken a punt. I would have Ben Watson at Wigan - Sure Bruce signed him originally? In Bruce we trust.
Height isn't everything in midfield. Remember the great Gareth Roberts who was only 3ft 6 and then there was the brilliant Billy Askew who was only 2ft 2!!
Holloway tried to sign him for Blackpool ahead of last season. In League One last season he got four goals and fourteen assists(the highest in the league), so he must be fairly attacking. But I know sod all about him really, that's all courtesy of Google.
Quinn was sensational in the League One Play Off final for Sheffield United took players on and looked good on the ball, however i have to admit that is the only time i have ever seen him, will ask my Sheffield United friend what he thinks of him now.
He scored a belter against us in our promotion season at Bramall Lane, if i remember correctly. Might give a few more attacking options in midfield and give some upfront a kick up the arse.
