Looks like Nicky Maynard could be on his way out of West Ham already, did he make a mistake leaving us, or do we find ourselves better of with Sam Baldock, think i will go with Baldock myself, anyone with a different view.

During the latter days of his stay at AG Nicky did very little to alleviate the situation and left us with a bad taste in our mouths. Baldock looks to be a good replacement and I just wonder what must be going through Nicky's mind right now because quite frankly I don't think he is of Premier standard.

I know if I was him I would be looking at our rebuilding pogramme and wonder what could have been with the newer and better structure underway in earnest at Ashton Gate. Ah well, the past is the past and maybe we should put it totally out of our minds and move on, and how nice it is to see all the positivity surrounding BCFC. Long may it continue and I wait with baited breath for the next few days to see if our lot is going to improve even more.

Glad to see the back of him..

I have explained my opinion of how the way he played made him look good but reduced the team effectiveness, especially the midfield.

We are going to see a much improved front line with a good work ethic and better movement now, its gonna make so much difference to the side.

I wonder if he now regrets not signing our contract, at sham he'll be lucky to be sat on the bench.

Why the hell is he thinking of leaving already?! He's barely been there a year and although his chances are slim the guy is where he wanted to be all along and he should knuckle-down and work hard in training. I refuse to believe that Big Sam bought him for nothing.

I've wondered for a while if Maynard's injury that he sustained under us has had a telling effect on his ability. He picked up a fair bit when he returned but he never hit that insane form that he found with us in his second year.

Shearer came back from a cruciate as though nothing had happened, but most mortals have to adapt their game to compensate for loss of mobility or pace. Maynard's injury was more a niggle than a full on Gazza.
Mostly i reckon its a mind thing.
In spite of his arse behaviour latterly at City, it would be good to see nm do well in the prem

He went to the wrong club, they don't fit his style of play which sums him up, he was that desperate to leave us he would go anywhere, so for that reason I couldn't give a flying f*** about Nicky he's the past, baldocks the future and I think he could be the next best thing

I liked Maynard but he wasn't what I'd call a 'fox in the box' type, he was just as likely to score from outside the box.

On one thirty minute viewing of Baldock he seems a better finisher than Maynard.
To be fair we might need more games to give a better evaluation.

Remember seeing Del on Player wishing like hell he could work with Maynard.
But for whatever reason - be it having his 'head turned' or injury he lost that sparkle/drive he had early days.

NM as I said half way through last season had too much to think about, and he was never the same...head not right

AGENT.. uuuummm need some money would like a nice jolly in Sept after the season ends and TRANSFER WINDOW CLOSES..Nicky I think you would be better off somewhere else, extra oner a week and possibly in the prem

Nicky....I like it here, and can do a good job

agent... you pay ( loads of dosh) me to make decisions, play crap and dont resign they will sell you for a song, Ill get you a place in the prem via WHU who are nailed on to go up...( ooops nearly didnt ).....

could have resigned, glad he didnt and been part of the glory team..who knows! now resigned to sub but he has to football!

Nicky had one great season for us. The problem is he is a striker who like playing off of a big forward but a lot of hiw later game he played up front on his own where he got marked out the game.

I think the difference is Nicky would score screamers from 30 yards and make it look easy. With sam he is happy to run with the ball or get a tap in which will lead to more goals but again because of size he needs to play along side someone

It's very early days yet for NM @ WHAM but what is certain is that his strength of character will be tested to the max as he is highly unlikely to get starts unless there are significant injury problems. He will be a bench warmer for most of the season apart from cup games. His biggest test will be to continue to train hard and keep his mouth shut when not selected. For any professional football player that's the hardest part of their very nice job.

I wish the guy no ill will and surely if he does a decent job when he does get a run out, we'd want him to succeed as we will have a resale clause in the contract with WHAM.

My personal opinion is that he will be the next Jason Scotland - one of the biggest threats in the Championship but never given a decent chance to make it in the top flight. This time next year he will be somewhere else.

Guess problem is west ham play one up front. Big Sam likes a big striker there and Nicky is one of 6 strikers fighting for one position and they are looking at other strikers like Carroll.

His only chance is to play behind the striker and challenge players like Nolan

What the **** is going through Nicky's mind?! Things didn't end on the best terms and according to Baldock Maynard only had good things to say about us. Now West Ham have reportedly accepted a bid from Franchise FC for his services!

The guy certainly knows how to burn his bridges, and quite frankly I don't see what he has to gain from this move apart from being back down here. He's barely given WHU a chance and if he won't fight for his place then he'll send a bad message to anyone stupid enough to pay for him.

We all make mistakes I suppose.. I think he has been brought back down to earth with a massive bump.

Sometimes you need to find the team that is the right 'fit' for you..
