So Taylor, who's been bright every game he's been in, wouldn't even make the bench? Pfft. We need to accept that Pitman should be allowed to go to pastures new. Adomah's playing a more attacking central role on occasion so you could say Pitman's sixth in line.
How can you do anything when you've had no time on the pitch? I seem to remember a lot of people singing his praises last season, and given his ability to poach I think he'd be a good sub option in games where we're not testing the keeper. This club has a terrible reputation for not giving forwards a chance. We farmed out Trundle quickly, Haynes was gone before he could strike any kind of partnership with Maynard and Pitman will be next out of the door. If Pitman wants to fight for his place then he should be allowed to stay and be given a chance.
He has had every chance to 'fight' for his place, only trouble was he didn't put up much of a fight. Scored some good goals in his time here and maybe it might be worth giving him a try now there is a bit of real competition around, my guess will be he is too lazy to lift his game. When he swans around without a **** for anybody he insults every paying City fan.
All the other strikers have taken their chance when given it, Pitman hasn't. Stead last season was well down the pecking order after his injuries but has been consistent and now is possibly the 1st choice, Taylor was nowhere near this time last season but everytime he has come on/started he has impressed me and again is now a solid first teamer, Baldock looked class in 20 minutes the other day and Davies we will have to wait and see. Pitman has scored some important goals when coming off the bench but then he usually gets a couple of starts after a good sub appearance and goes missing and is dropped again. Far too inconsistent for this level...
Trundle was past it and ended up in League of Wales Haynes did not last long at Barnsley and how long will he get at Charlton? Pittman has had plenty of chances but his laconic style obviously does not suit DMc and probably most supporters. We know that unless a miracle happens, we'll always be a Championship team at best so we need players who are prepared to give 101% all the time and it appears that Pittman isn't. Have a look at the current thread "Heroes & Zeroes". About 99% of our heroes are those who turned up every match, in rain, sleet, wind and heat, season after season. While I believe Pittman will score goals he does not fit what we need right now.
What are you basing this on? So why did we blow £1M on him? Sure, he came back from the summer break in horrendous condition, but he still had something to offer and he got some game time at Swansea. Probably not long, but the writing was on the wall for him for a while when he joined us and didn't instantly start scoring. The fans are a fickle bunch. Less than a year ago Pitman was praised as being a natural goal scorer that will help lift us away from relegation. Now, because he's not playing and not scoring he's ****. I bet that in a years time the same group of fans on here will be talking about how Baldock, Taylor and/or Davies are **** and aren't in our goal of Premier League football. Two weeks ago most people, including many fans on here believed that we would be lucky to remain a Championship team. I also noticed that many people had Millen down as a zero, despite the fact that he devoted twelve years of his life to working with the club. As I said, the fans are a fickle bunch.
Millen was a non-descipt player, able no 2 as long as he had somebody to hide behind and a complete farce as a manager, one of Steve Lansdowns howlers alongside Coppout.. Fans are entitled to be fickle, good or bad but they continue to put their money and hearts into the club and long may that continue..
Never rated pitman at this level as he is too lazy and I never saw him as a natural goalscorer I think he'd be good at a low level championship club not one that's pushing for mid table or more like the way were headed then he doesn't seem to cut the mustard
No one has said he is **** and a lot of people still think he is our most natural goalscorer (maybe Baldock will change that - we will see). The problem is inconsistency (can't remember him having 2 good games in a row) and laziness, or at least lack or work rate. When the team is poor, as we have been over the last 2-3 seasons you can't afford to have a player swanning around doing what the hell he likes. I think he would/could score a lot of goals for a championship club who are prepared to build a team around him and his playing style. City and Del are clearly not willing to do that so send him on his way. Just my opinion.
Nobody thinks Pitman is ****e, Ender. But if Del doesn't think he's got the motivation or hunger, keeping him on the bench (or not even there, as of late) is a waste for him. I like Pitman and would love for us to keep him, but as of this moment there appears to be no need.
