i think its fair to say he wouldn't be a popular signing! just scanning the thread there isn't one person on here who thinks it would be a good deal. 100% a 'NO' from us!!
is it that good? rhodes = £8m berbatov = £3.5m utterly preposterous but this just sums up football in this country.
I think the conversation must have gone: Blackburn "We Want Rhodes" Huddersfield "That'll be 8 million pounds, please." Blackburn "You can **** RIGHT off!" ..... Blackburn "Oh go on then... theres plenty more chickens"
probably not far off to be fair! the blackburn owners haven't got a clue what is a good deal and what is a bad one, so perhaps it was inevitable that they'd be the club where rhodes ended up, seeing as huddersfield were asking silly money. at least i won't be getting annoyed at the numerous city fans suggesting we are signing him now.......................................... *awaits with certainty a comment to the contrary*
Well I still think Rhodes is a great player, and I very much wanted him here, and I think he will do well, but 8m is an insane ammount of money if it's true, especially between 2 championship clubs. Must be an inter-championship record?
i think he's got the potential to do well at premier league level though i've never been truly convinced but £8m is just far, far too risky for any club, apart from a tremendously under pressure steve kean of course!
12 goals in 104 appreances for Everton. 1 goal in 11 games for Nigeria. 24 years old no history of going out on loan. I know Berbatov is getting on a bit and is partial to the odd cigarette, but he has one of the best first touches I have ever seen. A League one forward who has barely been tested at Championship level being worth that much more is absolutely crazy.
sadly, what this does mean, is that rhodes won't get to face ipswich at the portaloo on saturday and as blackburn have already played there, we'll miss out on the inevitable hattrick he'd have bagged!
doesn't set the pulses racing does it, though how many of those apps have been five or ten minute showings from the bench? everton fans don't rate him and on the little i've seen he lacks composure and is injury prone so can't say i'd be jumping through hoops to get him here. as i said earlier in the thread, lets hope its merely a back up option in case we don't get our first choice(s)
Why someone didn't pick Berbatov up is beyond me, on his day is unplayable and if he plays regularly I think he can pick up his form he showed at Spurs. If I was Wenger I would have taken the punt, could easily get 15 goals in my opinion. Find that crazy myself. **** me, just realised Anichebe is 24 as well, I thought he was about 21/22.
Make that 99.9%. His goal to game ratio is atrocious, but I'd be interested to know how many of those have been sub apearances. I also recall that he was brought into the scene as a 19(ish) year old .It turns out that was too early, so that's (say) 20 odd games he played in that he wasn't ready for, in which case his stats can be forgiven. If he offers pace, then he will be a body in the box ahead of the opposition defenders. With Howson, Snoddy, Hoolahan etc then he wont need to be wayne rooney to stick the ball in the net if he is unmarked on the end of a decent delivery. He is now a 24 yr old. He is an international player. He wouldn't be top of my shopping list, but if Hughton or Chester have seen something in him I cld be easily persuaded his way.
Berbatov's wages are the reason the £3.5m price tag looks reasonable. Even wet sham have winced at his wages and are unable to sanction a deal, yet they were going to throw millions into the Carrol deal, so shows what he must be on? Gutted if Rhodes does move to Blackburn, i know it would have been a huge amount £8m, but im convinced he would have made the transition to the prem, and in a season or two would have looked like a snip.
Looks like Swansea are going to sign Hernandez from Valencia for ridiculously low price of £5.5m. They have bought some cracking players!
Villarreal got relegated and had some good players. Surprised nobody picked up Rossi..one of the big clubs I mean. Who is Hernandez?
They really do need applauding for the quality they've brought in. That club has been built on a firm concept and belief which has passed on from manager to manager right from the Paulo Sousa days (who I think started it all). It makes you realise just what ****ers Tony Pullis and Sam Allardyce are.
