There is no way we would sell Rickie. Lambert is a hero here at Saints and I would go as far to say he is a huge part of our history now. From his pen at Wembley to his goals last season lambert is a saint through and through. Yes Villa are a bigger club than us but surely not necessarily a better team.
You have to look at things with a degree of practicality, HR, but I would be really disappointed if we let Rickie go. He is still the talisman of the side, and although he would still be playing in the Premier League, I want him playing for us.
IF it happens , and I honestly hope it won't and don't think it will , it wont happen until january TW IMHO .
It might happen because I think we must have more forwards that Man Utd, he is 30 and £4m after splashing so much cash as we have this past few weeks. Maybe not a bad return for a player who cost us £1m. Finally - we seem to have a thing about pacey forwards - Rickie does not fit that mould. I would hate to see him go - he is a great lad and the nearest to a talisman we have had since Matt Le-T. I will always be an admirer of his skill and dedication. Hope it just stays a rumour.
I remember I got Beattie on the back on a Saints shirt once and he was sold with almost immediate effect.
Same with me but it was Bridge least I got a refund back then. Were as now they don't do refunds for printed shirts.
Alan Nixon on the Rickie Lambert rumours: Somebody trying to start an auction. Would be surprised. I don't think the club are putting him round ...
If anyone thinks Rickie Lambert is about to move, you are all f****** morons. He's waited all his life to play in the Prem so somehow I doubt he would be keen to move away now.
I've read some comments (not on here) suggesting about possibly "cashing in" on Rickie before he is past his sell by date this is very short sighted in my opinion, Rickie has improved massively in the time he has been with us and has never been as fit as he is now. I believe that he will he will be a top player until he is 35 and beyond, he is very much like Teddy Sheringham in that respect, he relies on his quick football brain, touch, technique and vision and not pace, attributes that do not diminish with age. If he chooses to move on, then he will go with my good wishes and will be forever a Saints' legend, but I suspect that he is in love with our club and will want to stay on the bus and continue the journey to the top with us.
