Hey wouldn't it be great if we got the binners in the next round of the cup? It would be great to have another east Anglian derby after such a long absence.... Oh!
Villa, Leeds or QPR (now that the binners have blown it). Leeds could be fun from a not606 banter perspective.
I'd actually enjoy it if Leeds v Norwich was drawn. Be good banter on here and it will show the ex-leeds players how silly they were for trying to better themselves
Leeds, QPR or villa for me..... All would have interesting side issues I think and make the banter interesting
Listened to it and it didn't have me on the edge of my seat I must admit. Was it because of the eleven changes? Or just poor play?
MATE, IT WAS CRAP FROM START TO FINISH! If that was our reserve team, then I just hope we don't get any injuries in the first team squad. I think the only real positive was that George Francome played right back, it was good to see him get a run out, he did ok. Fox & Hoolahan played but didn't get a grip of the game at all, Martin and Morison up front were totally ineffectual, at least Martin ran around a bit, but Morison didn't help his cause at all, I don't think he needed a shower after the game!! Lapin did put in his normal effort but he didn't stand much chance as he had little or no support. All in all a game to be thankful that we won, but one that was very missable. Attendance was 13000 of which 11000 were 3 year olds who spent most of the time going backwards and forwards to the toilets with their mum or dad!!!!
cant argue with that we should have put the first team out and won 10-0 would have done us all a power of good, I was actually wishing time away and left at 87 mins, never do that normally, did not block anyones view when I left lol!
as much as i agree with playing your strongest team in matches like this, lets not forget that we have a new manager who is trying to figure out a) what his best team is; b) where his squad weaknesses are; and c) he's probably giving one or two a final chance to impress. other than francomb, i don't think anyone came out of the match with a stronger reputation and one or two blew their chance to impress. wes played ok but did he really do enough to force his way into the first team? frankly, i wouldn't be surprised if hughton feels like lambert did, that the league cup hinders more than it helps a side trying to stay up, but we got through and if we can get another similar home draw against a weaker side then it maybe, just maybe, gives us a chance to get to the latter stages for once. cup football is all about getting through - we did.
I watched Hughton being interviewed on the telly before I went to the game, and he said he was going to put out a "strong" team, as the cup was very important!!! I think we need 9 new signings based on that showing!! When the announcer said that in the event of a draw extra time would be played and then penalties, I shuddered!! I'm a fan/supporter of my club and have been ever since I can remember, and like you I NEVER leave early, but I wouldn't have stayed to watch another minute of that garbage!! It looks like another season without a serious cup run!!
yes I agree but really think it would have been better to use it as a serious practice match for the first team with so many new faces in the camp
tottenham have no game this week so will be nice and fresh for our game. why risk injuries and tiredness in a match which our reserves should, and indeed did, have enough to win anyway? we'd have made ourselves weaker for the visit to spurs by choice.
Really?! That surprises me coming from a club like Leeds with a record for playing nice, clean football.
