Just watching the Udinese Braga game... the stadiums a ****in dump! Makes East End Park look like Bernabeu! ****in tinks!
The Italians don't go to watch football, their crowds are atrocious. I've never understood how Inter and AC manage to share a ground - and still manage to hate each other?
It's not just Inter and AC either. Lazio and Roma share the Stadio Olympico, Juve and Torino used to share the Delle'Alpi as well IIRC.
I always hated the fact that they were so far away from the pitch. Pointless running tracks and wasted space.
English clubs have been more successful in Europe in the last 5 years than Italian ones (European Cup: England - 2 x winners, 2 x beaten finalists; Italy - 1 x winner).
San Siro is a cracking stadium, as is the Luigi Ferraris in Genoa. The old Delle Alpi was a ****ing dump, although the new Juventus stadium looks class. ****e name though. Also, how funny was the Udinese boy kicking the turf when through on the keeper? Add to that the ****e penalty they missed... To be fair though Jip, I was just taking the piss mate. But does the game over there produce a better class of player, more skilful maybe?
The San Siro is class. It's in a nice area too, pretty affluent really, especially compared to the working class/industrial shitholes most British grounds are in. I was.t too impressed with the S.O. in Rome though.
Without doubt. There is more of an emphasis on technical ability in Italy. In recent years in England, it's all been about physical attributes (speed, strength, stamina). Hopefully that is beginning to change, with technically better players coming through the system. Probably not though
I've read in a few places about just how bad the Delle Alpi was (so bad that only like 300 people turned up to a game once), that they had to pull it down after only 16 years
Yeah talking about Italian football stadiums and you have to throw in a reference about a stadium in Londonderry.
