Depending on age generally you are invited down if a scout or coach ect have been impressed.
From there it's normally 6 weeks training and if the coaches agree you will have a trial with the COE lads.
With young players 6/7/8 yr olds it really is about development and are generally kept up to the u9 cut.
If your son is 7/8 and enjoys football give the COE a call and ask about Monday's. I obviously can't help to much or my whole argument of it's who you know gets destroyed:rolleyes:
I always believe there's no harm in asking.

Did i hear some rules coming into play whereas theres no limit or an increased amount of time coaches can spend with youth players? such as they do around the continent?

Any idea if theres any plans to upgrade our youth set up 01482?

Isnt the compensation gained from big clubs for signing a player we've developed, linked the the level our youth set up is at? ie level 3?

I think its very easy to knock youth development at clubs, however we need to remember a few basic figures, if each of the clubs in Pem and Championship have squads of 25 players, there are only 1100 "player" slots avalible, if we say half of these are from non-english clubs we have only 600 spaces, If we say that average footballer plays 15 yrs the chances of a player breaking through are vvery very slim!!!

That said, I do think for sustainability a good set up is a must. As 01482 tells us that we spend only £200,000 per year on youth, I find that appaulling!!! We paid £45k a week for Bullard (and similar for other wasted players), wonder how much it cost united to develop Chester, Stewart, Evans, Bradey, or Liverpool to develop Robinson, Flannaghan, Spearing, Kelly, Sterling (I know they bought him!!), or Arsenal with Whiltshire, Gibbs........
The £5 million or so (possibly more) we paid Bullard for his "services" could of been far better invested in our clubs future

Citycityhull that's the worst thing for me we've had the money to build a new academy/training ground and let it slip through our fingers.
West Brom used there money when yo yoing to and from the prem on a whole new youth structure and are now one of the best in the country and the 1st teams back in the prem.

Wouldn't it be better to tell the kids there is a scout in attendance watching? I think they were all likely to try even harder to impress knowing that.

This thread isn't saying every single person who ever played for Hull City in one form or another has got there because of who they knew. That would be ludicrous to suggest. I'm just saying, from my experiences, one or two have. And some others have said sessions they have seen haven't exactly helped spot the best talent of the kids in this city.

I have a mate who's son is 8, he's played for Bolton & Man Utd & is earning a bit of money off it. If all the kids in our area were tracked like they do across the Penines then we'd be as good as Utd at youth level!

My grandad cleaned the windows on a lighthouse, but it doesn't seemed to have helped me or my dad much.

I couldn't find a number for the COE so emailed the Tigers Trust who forwarded it to Kris Blakestone.
Got an email asking to contact him. I was at work so had to wait til I got in, rang and it went to answerphone.
    Not heard out back.
