Sturridge is like walcott for me though, he can be really hit or miss. I feel the natural goal scorer is more important. Guess it all really depends on what is left in the pot and how much can we add to it by the sale of players?

I heard we may be looking at Jordan Rhodes for the future ...

I'm not sure we will get an out and out goal scorer. Someone like Sturridge who is versatile is probably the best bet as Rodgers doesn't talk about a striker getting 20 goals a season. He talks about the team getting 60+ goals ...

Whilst Sturridge, Walcott aren't my favourite players in the world - they will give us more directness to our play as well as much needed pace.

Sterling, without doing anything special, has shown us what a bit of pace can do. Hopefully Assaidi can do the same ...

Not really fussed about any of those 3 Sturridge would cost to much due to British tax. I dont really rate him that much. He is not an out and out goal scorer which we need. I think the Dempsey thing maybe a diversion tactic to trying to get someone else. As far as I know we enquired a month ago and not even been back to make a bid which seems a little strange. Unless we are waiting to last day of the transfer window to give Fulham a take it or leave it offer.

As much as we need a goalscorer I would be disappointed if we signed either Dempsey or Sturridge. Not Value for money at all, Dempsey is too old to warrant that kind of fee, Sturridge is lazy and selfish IMO. Don't really want us to sell the big man either, I don't think we could replace him for the fee he would attract, we should stick with him.

As for Sturridge and Walcott I just think we'd be better looking elsewhere for the sort of money we'd have to fork out. Pacey players aren't that hard to find and to me neither of them offers much more than just being pretty fast.

I agree but we're not really linked with anyone else so I'm just hoping we get in another couple of players who can help improve the team ...

I've heard that a number of clubs have a deal in place with Afellay on loan and its now up to the player to choose.

Not that keen on Sturridge or Dempsey to be honest. Sturridge is not a bad player at all but £20mil for him is a joke.
Not bothered about Dempsey, he does good job for Fulham but I have my doubts about him at a big club.
I think we should take a gamble on a striker like Huntelar or someone like him.

Sturridge isnt worth breaking the bank for......There has to be someone out there who is better value...if we can get him for ten id take him....Anymore and I think we are taking too much of a gamble....

The way I see it, we need another striker. Sturridge is not a proven striker and would cost too much. Dempsey is an attacking midfielder and not a striker. We have enough midfielders to fill 2 teams. Now God says that Morgan has all it takes to be a special striker. If he's good enough for Fowler then Dodgers should at least give him a chance this season.

So if we buy anybody then from those mentioned in this thread let's go for Huntelar.

Huntelar would be nice.......morgan should definately get a go.....We are playing better and better football, and hopefully the strikers job will soon just to be to get on his hands and knees and head it over the line.....Anyone can do that, so we might as well use the local lad.
