Was listening to Talk Sport today and their man in Spain reckons that the media there are tipping Pablo Hernandez to join Wigan. Has anyone else heard this? Strange move for him, going to a team that's escaped relegation by the skin of their teeth time after time. He's never worked with Martinez as far as I'm aware but has done so with Laudrup. I'm not one for rumours but this was their Spanish correspondent who should know what he's talking about. Not happy if true.
I'd like to think so guys, but I nearly crashed the car when he said Wigan. Hawksby & Jacobs didn't even question it. Hope the Spanish media are as crap as ours.
Well Wigan have money to spend on a winger following the departure of Moses. I doubt that Huw will allow himself to get drawn into a bidding war, particularly as we've spent so much lately and Wigan will have more cash than us anyway. Perhaps we shouldn't have tried to screw Valencia on the price because now things have dragged on, Wigan have become alerted and might nip in. Totally gutted if they do because for the sake of a million we might have done this deal a week ago. The problem is that Hernandez might be attracted to Wigan because of their Spanish manager and the likelihood of higher wages. On the other hand, if he checks, he will see how Wigan have struggled in recent times and our bright start this season must have impressed. It will be interesting to see if Laudrup's name can swing this, particularly as he and the player share the same agent. On that basis I think we still have a good chance.
A spanish manager or a legend in Spain. I think we got them beat on that one But yeah, wages could be a problem if were forced to compete.
I read somewhere recently that he's prepared to take a pay cut to get out of Valencia. It may depend on how much.
Yes he could be lured to the fact that Wigan have a spanish manager,But these days i dont think Wigan have the financial punch that they used to have..
hi knackered I heard the same correspondent when he started off mentioning Palo heralded I got excited then.I heard wigan and I nearly smashed the van on the way.back to work, he did mention after that miku has been touted ay coming to swansea
If we don't get the deal closed and the player signed by Thursday, we will probably pull the plug to avoid screwing up the paper work with FIFA. This is too big a deal to have the player sitting in limbo because the FIFA, Valencia or us couldn't figure out how to fill out a form or send a fax properly.
Think I'm missing something here? Hernandez would complete the picture for us this season and I'll be pretty pissed off if he goes elsewhere because I suspect we could have got him if we hadn't been fannying around on the Sinclair deal. Never know, might still get him, and I'm keeping everything crossed.
Oh I want Hernandez , make no doubt but it would hilarious if somehow Martinez scuppered the deal the way that people feel about managers leaving around here sometimes .
