At least he wasn't even on the bench.

I like that Sterling did some nice simple passes today.

Same with Lucas, people only tend to remember if you are spraying 30 yard balls into the box.

carreghr is past it, leave the legend out of it. he should have been retired and given a coaching job starting with the youths and working his way up ala marsh.

I agree downing needs to buck up to get a game but we'll see about selling him. sterling did great but he needs rest too, assaidi and carroll should some in (in theory before downing given the rubbish he's served up so far this year.

skertl cause me high blood presure and it reminds me of mistake after mistake last year that cost us points... we did well but that was thick.

Adam, Cole and Downing need to be shown the door. However, they should be given a Kop goodbye, they did have their hearts in it (mostly Adam and Downing) for the most part. Adam tried, he did the job he was capable of. Now that we've got 5 or so better players in that position, he can leave to play regularly. I don't want him at LFC anymore but he's not one of those "good riddance" type players that just pissed about for a year. Downing as well.

Exciting stuff, harsh on Borini and Coates, they did a job, I think Borini is adapting to the wide role, he's usually been a goal poacher and that extra running/passing does require a step up. It's early days and I'm really impressed with his link up with Suarez as well as his movement/positioning. Now just the finishing and he's set.

Allen - proving me wrong. I was concerned about the price tag, a lot less now. He's passing forwards, that's absolutely what we need to see. It's what we need, and with Sahin coming in, we'll see some excellent chances being made for Sterling, Borini and Suarez.

As for Carroll - great to see the lad come on, he had a few good touches and was up for it. The support from the Kop warms my heart a little, that's what our players need. He needs to know that if he stays he has our confidence and our support.

Good post mate! Nice to see not everyone needs a scapegoat to be a fan!

  9. Yep, I'd much rather have a player that passes forwards and loses possession a lot <doh>

Carra knew his days were numbered when he threatened to go to another club rather than sit on the bench under Rafa.

Am I the only one who thinks we should keep Adam? I reckon he plays a useful part in spraying the ball around when a team turns up at a field and parks the bus. Less need for a tackler in those games too. The lads corners at set pieces are class.

Never a starter for me, and wouldn't even be on the bench for away games against better sides, but we'd get next to **** all if we sold him and he can do a job, imo

Yeah it must have been appreciated because it was some roar he got <ok>

I thought Coates was better than expected yesterday. Tevez is such a livewire when dropping deep, then all of a sudden he's drifted a bit wider then he's popping up in the middle so it can be so tough for a centre half to not let him drag you out of position. A few goals for Borini will help and like yourself I thought he got better as the game went on yesterday. Workrate was very good and starting to see signs of an understanding developing with Suarez already which can't be bad only a couple of weeks into the season.

It was a real shame about Skrtel. He was class for 79 minutes in that match, the best player on the pitch in my opinion... Then he made one silly mistake, i hope he wont be haunted by this for too long.

I said to my brother when watching the game yesterday, that we have to be careful with the new style. As some players might not be so confident and just don't want to hoof it forward when under pressure, instead turn on it for too long and play a misplaced back pass. Its exactly what happened. If in doubt, hoof it out!!

I would rather see Adam, Spearing and Cole go before Downing. Downing has to be told to attack the opposing full-back, make him **** himself. Thats what his job is, its to create the space for the other offensive players. He is capable of doing so.

If at the age of 27/28 Downing still needs to be told how to play the role of a ****ing winger we should get rid. He's **** not thick.

Exactly. If he is that far along in his career and he still can't do things a 17 year old can, then we don't need him. Pacheco and Assaidi will be more useful anyway.

Gerrard is just as capable at hitting those cross field pases though and even Shelvey isn't bad at it. I don't think that is a good enough reason to keep him. Also, his corners and free kicks while at Blackpool were awesome (worth £10mil on their own you know) but since he's come to us it's like he's lost all confidence and seems to hit the first man everytime now! I don't understand it...

I reckon we could easily get £5mil for him.
