It may seem all well and good getting Julie Cesar in. ( As Sku amusingly addressed the original thread on this subject... a-hem. )

But in my experience as a goalie when I was a little bit younger, you always had the established goalie and the understudy. i.e No ego or personality clash. This seemed to be the way at pro level also. The understudy learned from the master, and when the understudy got his chance it was up to him to take it. If the understudy wasn't upto the job it was he who was got rid.
If however the understudy performed he would get a job but not at the expense of the master... a-la Chris Woods/ Shilton at Forest, and the club would find another understudy and cash-in.

To have two top class goalies in their thirties at the top of their game at odds with eachother doesn't seem right. Is it just me?

I'm looking to Watford as our resident GK expert on here to correct me.

Btw, welcome to the board ' Big Ade ' you seem like an interesting poster. We need some since swords has gone and DT has disappeared.
No disrespect to my fellow brethren.

Cerny is good enough for a backup and has no ego. Hughes is lying when he said it was the plan to sign 2 goalies. Cerny would not have been signed if that was true. It a reactionary move to sign cesar.

Agree completely! Although I would love us to sign a player of Cesar's quality, I would have loved to have signed him 2 months ago. Now that Hughes has signed Green he needs to back him 100%. Can't imagine all this specualtion is doing much for his confidence. Hughes obviously saw something he liked in Green and to give up on him after 2 games doesn't seem to make sense. Not that anything this summer has tbh.

He is a reliable big boy all right. Ade have you came back from states or are you "operating" from there? Anyway, its nice to hear from you. In Cesar case i must disagree with flyer I believe sparky had an idea of buying two keepers, but probably the original plan didnt had such high calibre and expensive goalkeeper as Cesar thought......

We would always have been after more than 1 quality keeper, maybe not quiet as high profile as ceasar, but Cerny is too old and has ongoing injury problems and Murphy is too young and inexperienced.

I'd imagine that Hughes's agent came to him and offered him ceasar, and it's just too good an offer to turn down. Unfortunately the timing if it means it looks like a reaction to greens mistake, but I'm sure this won't be the case.

But I do feel sorry for green, but hopefully it will bring the best out of him and create the competition for places that Hughes is after.

Whether Green was meant to be No 1 and MH c*cked up, or whether he was meant to compete with another, MH is right now if he is bringing in a decent Keeper. I hope he sells Green or loans him out, I don't want him to play for QPR again.

If Cerny has a "pensioner contract"....?;) Seriously, if Hughes didn't thought that Cerny is a prem keeper anymore , but gave him inexpensive contract just to be sure because we must have three capable keepers. Murphy obviously was not in his plans....?

Murphy was on the bench instead of Cerny for the 1st game.

There was no planning and this is a knee jerk reaction. Bte have you seen Rob Zombie is making a film about the broad street bullies, its going to be great!

Hes called Dave "the hammer" Schultz! Its a slightly bizarre combination but I love both the BSB and RZ so I will be in heaven watching it.

I meant Shultz was the cross between those 2 in real life. Clarke will probably be the focus of it, breaking Karmalovs ankle on purpose and the CCCP refusing to play on.

I think it will be a real life slapshot which is a great film and based on a real team too.
