brb takes a very brief look back when we last met:


Chesterfield 3 -1 Gillingham

The last time these two sides met was back on Saturday 7th May 2011.

It was the final game of the season and the Gills were in search of at least a point to earn any outside chance of a play-off place on the last day of the season.

This was the life of a Gills supporter though, going in to that final game, knowing that we needed a win (maybe a draw would be enough) away against Chesterfield, the to be league two champions. Then that might not be enough on its own, of course not, we are Gills, this was to be a bigger hurdle than the previous season against Wycombe because we also need either Stevenage or Torquay to lose, or at least drop points.

Earlier in that season on the 25th January 2011, we had lost our home fixture to Chesterfield 0-2. So we knew it was a massive ask and just like Wycombe the previous season we conceded three goals to end another season of hope.

brb match view and prediction: Chesterfield's previous two games have been at home and were both drawn 1-1 (Rotherham/Rochdale), however, they lost their opening game away to AFC Wimbledon 1-0, The Dons having shown an appalling record of conceding goals since, if that can be used as any sort of measure to Chesterfield's current form.
