was justdoing a post on Turkey, came to write about Renault, went to check on his condition and found out he's just left hospital. Good news for Renault and Kubica , bad news for the Marx brothers
Thanks, Miggins. Is there a link for this? Obviously not because it's an outrageous claim that needs to be backed up with hard evidence - just that if it's news then it's nice to be able to click and read the article oneself.
This is really good news. Hopefully we will see him on the sidelines of a grand prix soon before getting back in a car =)
Its good news but I don't think he'll be back this year. These drivers are made of sterner stuff that me though so who knows
http://www.crash.net/f1/news/168594/1/kubica_set_to_leave_hospital.html Hope he gets some racing before the end of the year. At a driver's circuit such as Suzuka or Spa I could see him wringing that Renault into first place.
Lets just hope this incident hasn't had the same effects on him as Hungary did on Massa, I hope he's back soon and at his best.
This is fantastic news! After seeing 2 Renault podiums already, makes you wonder what Kubica would have done with the car. I think he could have given Ferrari some real problems both in qualifying and the race. Hopefully he will get back in the car and shine again.
As others have hinted, I think there's a vast difference between coming out of hospital and ever racing F1 cars again. Personally, I doubt he will. Very happy for him though, nevertheless.
Very glad to hear Kubica is out of hospital. As Jose said, imagine what he could do in the Renualt this year. And I hope, if anything, his crash has actually made him better as a driver! I should think he's one of those sportsmen that never give up the sport they love, no matter what injuries they get. Like Alex Zanardi had to have both legs amputated after an IndyCar accident but, with a few modifications to his car, he was able to race in WTCC. Or what about the footballer who's broke his leg about 3 times, and still played football. I think it was Cisse, if that's spelt right, I think he's French.
Johnny Herbert came back after shattering his feet and ankles in an f3000 race at Brands, I'm not sure of the full extent of Kubica's injuries, but the person mentioning Massa should take a look at his recent performances, twice beating Alonso on track and the first race seemed a contrived pass to give Button a penalty.
I mentioned Massa, he was 27 at the time of the accident in 2009 (now 29) and only just showing the pace of old. Kubica is 26, normally the sort of age where a driver starts to show his best form. If he misses this season through injury, and isn't at his best next year as he continues recovering, then he's lost 2 years at what would have been the peak of his driving ability. Come 2013, the new rules could leave Renault well down the pecking order, and he may never get another shot at the championship, something on merit so far I'd say he could win.
So it's going to be another week before he leaves hospital according to Autosport, and midsummer before they will be able to assess whether he'll race again and, if so, when that might be.
