Been mentioned on match thread so i thought i make a new one Ok only 3 games in but im worried malky wont change his formation! Most of last season we played 4-5-1 but we had the excuse of having no option as lack of depth! But theres no excuse now!!! Ok we had 2 injuries today, But why we putting in players that have only just joined us and have no understanding with eachother?! K9 should of started atleast hes played with Hudson, and Tommy Smith? why is mason looked over??? I aint saying malky needs to go but! He needs to open his eyes we all been saying it mason should be starting! today i would of picked ---------------------Marshal------------------ --Mcnug------Hudson-------Keinan---Taylor--- ------------Whittingham--Gunnarson---------- -Conway-------------Mason---------Veronika-- --------------------Helguson------------------ I know Veronika is a Striker but to me the modern game there is no such thing as a winger anymore! its more like Wide forward! Hes got pace so lets use it?! Obviously when Kimbo arrives and gets into the way we play he will replace Conway and Bellamy replaces Veronika With Turner coming back naturally...but i would also play Veronika up front against certain teams with slower defenders or teams who like to play higher up the pitch Whats your thoughts???
i want us to play a more attacking formation. our strength is now going forwards with all the quality players we've brought in.....4-5-1 with helguson up front on his own wont see us take the initiative and win games 3-4 nil. i would prefer.... mason cowie gunnarson whitts bellamy helguson admittedley not 4-4-2 but mason and bellamy can be inside forwards, supporting the striker and not simply hugging the touchline.... no excuses this season top 4 minimum IMO.. an average start, but i dont care losing to bristol as long as were promoted....
We should play 442 at home, where we should be scoring for fun, and 451/433 away to control the midfield and counter.
if we play 9 man defence and let in 4 goals what is the point in having a defence if the other side dont have to worry about any attack what do we expect them to do...its a different story when we got 4 strikers for them to worry about
I'm only talking about what everyone else is talking about! Formation is wrong......anyone want to argue?! exactly...... Playing Smith over Mason, Wrong playing Connolly over keinan, Wrong playing Cowie over Conway, Wrong Listen here...im not arguing that hes a bad manager! but we all argree he needs to change formation if u disagree then ur the only one i know!!!!! Can ppl please defend me!!!!!!!!!!! BTW I watched first game of season and i listened to todays match!
I was there and i agree with the OP. Cowie can't play on the wing so conway should play. Connelly shouldn't play with only 2 days at the club (defeats the purpose of pre season). Although smith played well after signing the night before, he shouldn't have played. Gunnars needs to be told to concentrate on protecting the back four.
Cowie isn't a winger, last year we had little choice, this year mm cannot hide behind that. I understand the talk of Mason, formations etc, but when you lose 4-2 it's not the attacking side of your team that should be the priority. 2 goals should be enough to get at least a point out of most matches.

Gunnarsson holding the midfield with Whittingham as an advanced Playmaker and Mutch being used as a box to box midfielder McNaughton and Taylor stepping up from full back to help support the midfield areas while defending and provide supporting width when attacking.
It's not about having options. by the looks of it, Malky will choose to play 4-5-1 ..... whatever the player options available.
What formation did we play against Newcastle? That seemed to be the one that worked best. Mason has to start against Wolves imo, he changed the game when he come on agaisnt Huddersfield and scored against Bristol. Where was Bellamy why wasn't he even on the bench?
