I've been reading a bit about this lately, it's interesting. I still don't know if the Guardian might be just creating a fictional character based on a range of stories from the footballing world. He's a skinny runty looking bloke from that video they've posted, so I thought it might be Bullard. But I think he's still meant to be a Premiership footballer now, so rules him out. If it is real, it'll come out one day.
It's obviously Gazza. Has the Guardian or the writer himself actually confirmed any of those facts? I can't be arsed reading the whole site to find out. Yes, I am that cynical.
Nup. He has clearly stated in the past that he is at the end of his career after many years in the Prem and is bankrupt. Turner has only had - what, 4 years - and is far from the end of his time.
who is the secret being held from ? i dont get it nor have i seen it before , if thats his voice im sure someone will recognise it . Or is it just a fun quiz ?
On Radio 4's Today programme (Wednesday or Thursday) someone from the Guardian mentioned that this person had written a piece in the paper about depression under their own name and it was published last year.
I think it's a composite of players because everytime you think you've nailed it one of the clues doesn't fit. I think the main thing is that the player is articulate and that discounts 99.9% of players. Personally i think it's either Kevin Davies or Danny Murphy as both have links with journo's and have had articles published in the broadsheets that tackle some of the issues raised.
I think it is almost certainly either Scott Parker or Dave Kitson. This thread has a lot of discussion on the issue.
For the last couple of years he has written a cloumn in the Saturday issue of the Guardian, covering all sorts of topics. It really is a good read. I reckon it could be Danny Murphy, though maybe Stan Collymore.
There's something like this in FourFourTwo as well, but it seems to be a much better kept secret. He talks about really dodgy things going on between players but there are a lot of clues to who he is.
