Wow this is a real event. First man to walk on another planet. His is name that will be remembered by everyone and his achivement will be taught in schools 200/300 years from now.
Can't say that I'm over the moon with this news.....In truth this man was a true legend and has earned his place in history..RIP
Yeah, a true superhero who managed to get through the Van Allen radiation belts, land on the moon with invisible thrusts in a tin foil capsule with 1kb of computer data.. We all have our theories and as a photographer I have mine, will miss the man like simply as 12 year old he was Mr Apollo..
So were all our parents, who were not so priviledged, and went through 2 world wars with nothing. Back to the ****,,,,,,,,DID THE YANKS REALY LAND ON THE MOON.......Proof lads needed. until then...................................very sceptical........................VERY.
Neil Armstrong was a true hero and a gentleman who was never comfortable with being, literally, the most famous man on the planet. He knew his success was down to an enormous team effort but his name will echo throughout history, as the first human to walk on the surface of another planetary body. I will never forget that night. I stayed up to watch at 13 years old even though all my family went to bed. I was fascinated by space and exploration then and still am today. Went to Kennedy Space Centre in Florida years ago with the kids. It was an amazing place and truly awe inspiring. Having worked in IT for many years, I was particularly interested in the mission control room. The computers had the power of your average calculator nowadays, and used flick switches, light bulbs and transistor technology for heaven's sake! RIP Neil Armstrong. Not just an American icon, but a hero for all humanity, till the end of time.
I remember school setting up a TV in the assembly hall and we all got out of lessons to watch some of what was going on - it brought the world to a halt. Now I am a lot older I don't know if it was true or not - I would like to think it was - however if it was a hoax it was the greatest one in history. So if nothing else kudos to him for that. RIP
I became an amature astronomer because of the moon landings, and co founded a observatory in Bacup near oldham in the 1980's, it is fascinating to think the universe is infinite in size, and there is a sun out there 1,000,000,000 bigger than ours. There is also probably 1000,s of planets like ours some millions of years in advance, and 1 or 2 with supporters nearly as big as a Sunderland vs Newcastle derby!.
Monty987 - I have always loved astronomy and been fascinated by the mysteries of the universe as well, and am sure this came from growing up with the space programme and moon landings. I have read loads on the subject and love science fiction, and this has rubbed off on my son, who is studying astrophysics. I am hoping he will eventually get a job working with the largest radio telescope in the world, the SKA, which will be shared across South Africa and Australia, so I can go and visit him!
Watched the moon landing on telly..I was 11 at the time and was blown away at what I was seeing. When I see the footage now, its still awesome. Armstrong will be remembered as long as there are humans on this planet..it was that bigger deal. A proper hero.
The best proof you could ever have is the Russians, the USA's mortal enemy at that time and also their rivals in the space race, never once tried to claim the USA faked it. Every time a "hoax" theory expert is shown proof their theory is preposterous, they jump onto the next theory. 3rd picture down taken in March this year from a Lunar Orbiting Camera. http://www.dailygalaxy.com/my_weblo...te-now-seen-in-unprecedented-detail.html#more Mythbusters proving how the Lunar Lander photographs weren't faked. You know the ones, where the hoax theorists claim the pictures were too well lit and had to have been done under multiple studio lights.
