[ Hill didn't do too badly in my opinion[/QUOTE] How can you honestly say that. It was one of thw worst 45mins of football i have seen by one individual. Agreed that traore was also awful. Can't see him playing for a very long time.
I think the bottom line is the so-called 'better' players who we have signed are not performing for whatever reason. The likes of Hill and previously Helguson, Smith, etc. are/were giving 100% and do not necessarily have the extra ability that some others have. The disappointment for me is that he likes of Diakite and Park cannot control the ball on a sixpence and Cisse does not look across the line and is constantly offside. This is basis technique/awareness. There is a lot to be said for organisation as well, which we do not seem to have in abundance either. Would you on paper take any/or the majority of Norwich's starting 11 over our's? If the answer to that is no, then it begs the question that management/delivery of their performance is not as it should be and it is Hughes and his backroom team's responsibility for that.
Good first post Westjag, you can have less talented players that are well organised who will out perform teams with better players but desire also plays a part. On the OP I felt Hill over-performed last season and it would be difficult for any player to maintain that level against top-flight opposition. There is a sentimental side that says he's earned his extended contract but the reality is we have to improve the team...
Think Hill earned a new contract but should only be a squad player for cups, sub + odd PL game similar to Derry but for some reason defence hasn't properly been addressed & now starting to look a little desperate.
