Mmmm, now that's not a bad idea Jackswan. Your idea is out there now for all to see so let's see what support you get. Like I've said I think we should go with what our posters want after all it is everyone's board and mods dictating what's going to be done is not a good idea. That's why I'm not offering my opinions on what we should do.

I've become accustomed to there being 5 stickies at the top of the page. I don't take any notice of them tbh. I'd rather they stayed there rather than yo-yoing up and down the front page amongst the football threads. Just my opinion.

I`m with this one, for what it`s worth. One sticky to link the other sticky`s. There can be exceptions to this (good causes etc) to add to. Too many stickys make it a bit messy, but what constitutes too many?

One thing is clear: people who create the damn things seem very protective of them. **** it and let democracy rule I say.

Most people that don't use the stickys' will probably vote against them . I just don't see the importance of removing them , bit of a non event to me & should stay in place for those that use them .. seems so simple

I would rather not have any stickies, but one or two are acceptable, such as forum rules. But every other thread should be at the top on merit. I don't see why some threads are stickies just because a few people like them. most people love the Word Association thread, but it stays on page one because it's popular, not because it's a sticky. If the joke thread is popular then it will stay on page one on it's own. If it's not popular enough, then it doesn't deserve to be a sticky.

All the sticky's are now on the "links" page. These are clickable links so very easy to find.

I vote for stickys. As long as they are being used by and aimed at all of us. Have the stickys got the thumbs up, thumbs down voting system. If anyones pissed off by the sticky, vote that way. <ok>

Mixed reaction so far but it does seem as if having no stickys is just edging it at the moment but only just.

What does everyone think of Jackswans idea ?

Keep it as a sticky I say - the campaign won't go on forever and we should support it.

I think we should stick with the sticky threads as I am quite attached to them. Just watched a TAPE of the game today, missed it live as I was at a Band Aid concert. Will try to SELLATAPE of the game to my friend, I was GLUED to it, although he thinks I'm stuck up, but quite frankly he can stick it up, he's a bit clingy anyway. He sells commercials for sieves in fact he is an Ad he sieve, Russian guy, comes from Bostick. OK, gotta go now , got to plaster the walls.
Stick with the funny ones at least, especially U Hoo read this.

Ok seeing as its all gone quiet here and we have mixed feelings I think it's best to leave things as they are, at least for the time being.

If there's no objections Norway has asked for his Cardiff Comedy classics to be made a sticky too. It's got over 600 posts so I don't see why not and I can't see the comedy letting up either.

Personally, now that everyone's had their say I'd have been happy to take up Jackswan's idea and just have one with a link to the other threads in there, but as I said its been up to all up posters and not just miserable buggers like me.

There's is of course nothing stopping anyone bringing this issue up in the future.

I think Ash was right to bring this up in the first place too, so apologies to people who want rid of them (me included) but it appears it would be easier to maintain the status quo.

I tend to agree with valley. This is preposterous. Someone sends a PM and all of a sudden it gets top billing. ****ing pathetic. What sort of message is that sending? We're obsessing about a team a division below us. The thread had fallen well down the list.

Like I said before, some people who create them tend to love the self-publicity angle and are protective of them. The greater good has to be considered and whereas I've always supported the mods they need to stop trying to please everyone. You never will. Go with your original view on stickies (supported by most posters it seems) and stop being bullied by a minority.
