To all of you who said he would be shown up in the Prem League - shame on you - two games in - he is only player to have shown promise - today - he won us the free kick in good position, did a few great runs which took pressure off the back four and was the only player really who looked like he wanted to win. Last week I rated him as the only player who gave 100%. These qualities are what we lack - the grit / heart / want to win etc - we had this in the team when we won the championship. Warnock was good at building this in the team. This is why Spurs fans don;t want to lose Dawson. I am glad he is in the sqaud - so yahoo sucks to the rest of you who doubt him.
Just needs to learn to pass the ball before they take it off him* or he plays a weak final ball. (*That is assuming any begger actually gets up in support.)
Couldn't agree more but we are the minority, at the moment if I had enough time I could write lots on our lack of just about everything but to annoyed to start.
I think thats harsh. That save was unbelievable. He must of thought just anywhere on target and for Vorm to make a diving save from 5 yards...incredible.
I watched the game today and Mackie was poor Last week he was also overshadowed by Hoilett I expect SWP to start against City
Think he is better as an impact sub to be honest. We benefit from his energy then. Would have preferred Adel to have started today
Shocked that you would have the temerity to criticise Mackie for missing that chance. The opportunities your 'god' Tarrabt (the "Holy One" in the church of rangercol) has screwed up in passes, shots and defence far outweigh that chance. Mackie has scored crucial goals in crucial games for us, and puts himself about for 90 mins. Unbelievable response col, unbelievable!!!!!!
With respect mate.....what has Taarabt got to do with Mackie? By that logic, we can't criticise anyone cos someone else has made mistakes as well!! Vorm shouldn't have had a sniff of that shot last week. Mackie mis-hit it which is what gave Vorm the chance to pull off a brilliant save. Mackie has scored some crucial goals for us and I like him. However, I do feel he runs and runs, but often up blind alleys and when he does get by his man, the ball is usually blocked for a corner. When Faurlin is fit, or another holding midfielder bought, I think Park will take Mackie's place on the right. I'm not getting drawn into yet another debate on Taarabt. If he hasn't "done it" this season I'll be the first to admit it!!
Two poor games???? On that reckoning we will have a new 9 players on the pitch next week! If he does run hard and through - it creates chances - yes he could look up more - but exactly who in your opinion did better over the last two games?
I've said it before people love a trier and mackie is a trier. Ability and end product is very little with Jamie. If we sign a CM this week or if Ali is fit then Park will move out wide and Jamie will be on the bench. If Mackie had more ability and skill he would be a top drawer footballer, but he really hasn't. Just consistently running with his head down and his pull backs etc are awful.
Agree with Mackie being more effective as an impact sub. Not the ideal player to retain possession and play a passing game.
What I will say though, the balls that were played out to him yesterday were all pretty awful, gave him little or no chance of bringing them under control, especially in the second half.
It's a myth that Mackie has no end product. Seven goals from 31 games last season (some off the bench) is decent and causes problems to any full-back with his directness. His crossing isn't the best but what would SWP bring that he doesn't? You'll notice him when he's gone.
Love the fact he gives 100% but reminds me of Forrest Gump.No good running the length of the pitch with the ball only to give it away.
