cheers for the info mate live in Sunderland so no probs getting there just hope I'm not working on the rematch...otherwise he'll have to take his mum
It's got it's good points to the match being called off. Give our new signings a start in the cup game and will give them some match fitness ready for the next league game.
rain has been biblical today, my koi carp are knocking on the back door asking to be fed according to the good lady
Not trying to worry any body but my bible bashing neighbour, is building a huge ****ing boat in his back garden.
Well me and my other half were just getting into Cleadon when we found out - went up to SoL anyway and got our tickets for Tuesday. Lots of 'resigned' faces around the ground and have to feel for the Reading fans travelling all this way for the game to be called off. Have to say the rain was much heavier in Sunderland than in Tynemouth, which shows how localised it was. On the bright side at least AJ will be able to play in the rearranged game. This may make more people decide to go on Tuesday night too, which will be great. Can we contain our excitement for 76 more hours?
I have seen it bucketing down one side of the A19 bridge and bone dry the other side of the river before. Same with snow Monkwearmouth north with a canny covering and not a flake in the City centre.
Im sorry but this day and age i think Sunderland should be ashamed and need to look at the ground yes it rained but i was there from 1-15pm onwards by 1-45 it was easing and good drainage should have been able to cope. On the plus side it means we have Johnson for an extra game
I think if the ref had give it another half an hour, the game would have went ahead. No sooner had it been called off, the rain eased up dramatically which would have allowed the water on the pitch to drain away. A bad call methinks. P.S...its been stopped raining now for the last hour.
BBC live text 1608: There could be an element of doubt about Chelsea's game against Newcastle. It has been raining heavily at Stamford Bridge, and Newcastle have tweeted: "Referee Phil Dowd having a chat with the groundstaff, the assistants are looking at the surface water by the touchlines. Still raining." Can you believe it? In August?
This is the reason why they could have waited untill 3-00pm to call it off but then people would say why wait untill 3-00pm to call it off, i just think in this modern day there is no way this should have been called off people can see the forecast why not put some type of tent over the pitch untill 1 hour before kick off
Not just the refs decision, both managers have a say too. No surprise to me if McD had the choice he would opt for postponing.
