Apparently Sky Sports News have said Maurice Edu is set to join us from Rangers, as a follow up to McCoist saying earlier on that he is definitely leaving.

Rangers manager Ally McCoist also told BBC Scotland that midfielder Maurice Edu may be joining Stoke.
"We hear from his agent that there is a potential deal to be done with Stoke," revealed the Ibrox boss.

I've heard of him and remember him playing for Rangers over the last few seasons I think. More than that I know not.

Stoke City have agreed a fee with Rangers for American midfielder Maurice Edu.
The United States international, 26, will now undergo a medical before completing the transfer for an undisclosed fee, subject to international clearance.
Personal terms have been agreed and if the deal does go through, Edu will join up with American compatriot Geoff Cameron, who recently arrived at the Britannia Stadium from Houston Dynamo and Jamie Ness, signed from Rangers over the summer.
The news is a blow for Ipswich boss Paul Jewell, who had hoped to lure Edu to Portman Road.
The American international made 125 appearances for the club, scoring 12 goals in the process.
He was signed for Rangers by Walter Smith in August 2008 from MLS side Toronto FC, and won SPL winner's medals in each of his first three seasons.
Edu has not featured for Ally McCoist's side this season as they began life in the Scottish Third Division.

STOKE CITY have today confirmed that they are closing in on the signing of Rangers midfielder Maurice Edu.

City have agreed personal terms for the 26-year-old American international to move from Ibrox for an undisclosed fee.

The transfer is now subject to Edu passing a medical over the weekend and then being granted a work permit.

He would join former Rangers team-mate Jamie Ness at the Britannia Stadium and become the second USA international to be signed by City recently following the arrival of Geoff Cameron from Houston Dynamo.

    Sgt,

I think that the key phrase there is "Subject to Edu passing a medical". We seem to blow hot and cold on them!!

I was going to carry on but for some reason my computer went ape-s**t . I haven`t had many sensible replies ,but from what I can deduce is that he`s probably not Prem.quality, which is why Ipswich were after him,. To be honest this signing does not inspire me and for once wouldn`t mind if he failed the medical!! Hope I`m wrong and if he does sign he will get my full support.Sounds like another Olifinjana.

Just watched Sky Sports panel, and Charlie Nicholas has just re-iterated what I suspected!! when asked about Edu ,he said `Stoke fans might enjoy seeing him on the bench, and that Ipswich is about the level he should be playing!!!!!! Say no more, nothing more than a squad player, fit --will runaround but little skill,in other wordsa duplicate of what we`ve already got.No sign of anybody being offloaded??

    pfffffff..........................

"I rang Jurgen Klinsmann and he was full of praise for Maurice, he said that apart from MIDFIELD, Maurice can play anywhere across the back. I watched the tape of their win in Mexico last week and he played well along side Geoff in DEFENSE>"

So we have bough another defender, to go with Geoff and our existing defence! I love the way TP is evolving the team!

Defensive after defensive players or injured after injured players - its always the same. I'd rather we didn't buy anyone than buy for the sake of it. He refers to these buys as needed because of moving people on, but who the ehll are we moving on? No one wants them and the are worth sweet FA!

I looked at the Ranger's board and apparently. Edu has a left foot? So do I but It does'nt make me a footballer. WORRIED now, IF he's a defender F F Sake Tony just play him at left back half the feckin squad we've had have played there. Clueless Pulis as my STOKE fanatic mate keeps telling me! Say's it all Smither's.

If he's buying him to play LB then I will hold my tongue because as some one else said that would free up Wilson and kill 2 birds with 1 stone. My only concern would be that he hasnt had many clubs looking at him and with the greatest respect to the SPL its not the greatest of leagues. I'm also worried that Wilson may dissapoint when given the chance in midfield - hope not because he owes us a shed load of money and its been the best part of years in the waiting!

We need a big clear out, I suggest we start with Pulis's desk.
