Top of the league, here we come. This weekend sees Shrewsbury entertain the currently top of the table, but long-term mid-table hopefuls Tranmere. A side who are now pretty synonymous with League One, particularly those dodgy away games you don't really want to go to where it will inevitably be bitterly cold, probably rain and the food will be awful, although still better than an abject game in which we lose 1-0 thanks to a 12th minute own goal. You kno precisely what I mean. I would expect Turner to stick with the exact same side for the third consecutive game; he's not one to shake things up after a victory. Purdie's outstanding form will pretty much guarantee that he keeps his place ahead of Jacobson; the two central defenders are pretty much undroppable after forming an outstanding brick wall against Preston; Grandison is never going to be dropped because if Turner did drop him, Grandison would probably start singing; Weale looked good, Mattie Richards and Summerfield were tidy in the middle with both wingers outstanding. The only feasible change, barring injury, would be Bradshaw in for Gornell up top, but I cannot see it happening. This will obviously be a test, Rovers have clearly hit the ground running and are a side with plenty of experience at this level, certainly enough to know how to make life difficult. However, there were sufficient signs from the Preston game that plenty of teams will struggle at the Meddah in the next 9 months. Finally, a quick well done to Manfeelings on your results Did you know? Shrewsbury haven't had a 0-0 draw in 26 league matches, since Cheltenham away in boxing day. The last time we failed to score at home is close to a year ago, in a 0-0 draw with AFC Wimbledon, and it's coming up to 18 months since we lost at home. The bookies' thoughts: Shrewsbury: 11/8, Draw: 23/10, Tranmere: 17/10 Lenny's Grandison fact: When Grandison plays dodgeball, the balls dodge him. Lenny's prediction: Shrewsbury 2-1 Tranmere (Wright, Gornell); attendance 6,328
This looks a tricky one to me with Tranmere on a roll and scoring goals for fun. I do not think we should get too carried away with the Preston game as we only managed one shot (and what a shot it was!) on target the whole game. I go for a 1-1 draw with marvellous Marvin answering his critics by scoring with a bullet header. Crowd 6550.
tranmere will need watching. 6 goals in 2 games. andy robinson scored a hatrick on tuesday in tranmere's 3-0 destruction of carlisle, at carlisle. the previous saturday t/mere beat orient 3-1. jean-louis akpa akpro scoring twice. in the hope of our 2 up front being on form, i go for shrews 2 tranmere 1 gornell wright att 6690. floreat salopia!
There may have been a few hair dryer moments from our mild manager...... Shrewsbury 3-2 Tranmere Wright, Gornell and O.G. (can't guess who tho'!!!....haven't seen one in a while!) 6901 attendance
Metashrew, Greenhousmeadowman and any other fans who like to read the threads but don't comment, please feel free to join in the betting league - the more people we have taking part the better it will be
Cheers Lenny! What about you? I'm afraid I couldn't see it on FB without stalking (unless you didn't write a status?) probably bossed it. You're going to sixth form college aren't you? TOwn 1-1 Tranny (Gornell) Att: 6045
Same old story. Failure to make the most of their chances. Also appeared to be distracted by the delayed and completely unnecessary substitution of Gornell.
Not quite as good, I got 4 A*s, 4As and 4Bs. And yes I am - are you staying at your school's sixth form?
