Sticky's...... The official vote

OK the time has come for you all Swans posters to decide whether you want stickys or not.

We have a links section at the top of the page as Mabon has highlighted in his thread, in there are links to what we think are some of the more popular threads and would be an alternative to the stickys.

If however you prefer to have things unchanged and for there to be stickys at the top of the page we will of course leave them there.

Before we go any further no one is trying to offend any poster that has created a thread and no one is trying to force anyone to vote for something that they don't want. As mods we are damned if we do or damned if we don't so the simple solution is for all our posters to decide.

Please let us know what your preference would be, stickys or no stickys. Remember ladies, gentlemen, boys and girls that we are Swansea City supporters and therefore unlike the rabble from Legoland we can have a decent debate about it that won't turn into a slanging match.

Now I'm not being a hypocrite, I've temporarily made this thread a sticky so that it is easy to see and comment on. After a decision is made I will unstick this.

We'll keep this open for a few days to give everyone a chance to air their views.

 

No stickies at all for me, other than the prediction thing (which I don't do but I can see the logic).

If you really want to get involved in music, poetry or joke-telling then knock yourself out but I'm here for the footie. I respect others who want to do other stuff but I don't. I make an exception in the off season but I think that during the Prem season when games are coming thick and fast we've got enough to talk about haven't we?

Stickies push proper football threads down the list and that can't be right. If the topic is good enough and popular enough it'll stay up on merit.

Just my opinion, fellas and no offence intended.

 

the joke and music ones are ok out of season bt not now its underway. the prediction ones will stay amongst the top anyway as they are constantly updated. so drop them all for now anyway. maybe leave the touch far vetched one up.

 

Five Stickys' .. 1 Besian Idrizaj prediction league ( season ) .. 2 Besian Idrizaj prediction league ( weekly ) .. 3 fantasy football league in general thread .. 4 entertainment sticky ( music , jokes , xbox & such .. 5 - Special interest & charity thread that can be advantaged for specific events . That leaves 20 spots on the front page for private member threads . Just a thought . I think there is room for a few quality stickys' as long as it's monitored & changed only through discussion

 

I think 5 stickies is far too many, Breezy. Maybe that's just me.

I like what has been done, I never noticed the links thing on the corner. So if we have that is there any need for stick ones ? I think not get rid of all

I like the link to the sticky page idea....but,
I think a lot of people will forget to make their predictions on Musty's threads if it's not at the top of the page, and that would be a shame.
Also, the joke thread at the top gave the place a bit of character for visitors.
Also like the idea of a sticky at the top of the page explaining our history to visitors.

Could we have both? A link to a page full of sticks and just a few at the top of the page?

 

So far it looks like most want rid except for Musty's, Cartoons and Swim's thread.

Still early days but correct me of I'm wrong please.

How about, once everyone's shared their ideas here, the mods lay out 3 options and we have a poll. No arguing with the result.

 

That's whats I'm trying to get done here Terror. Whether we'll succeed is another matter of course.

As I said above I'm cowardly saying "let's have both a sticky link and a few sticks at the top of the board".
Although I would have 4 max and be ruthless about what needs to be there....obviously everyone will have a different opinion but I like;

- a history/welcome thread
- a joke thread
- Musty's prediction threads

Everything else; charity, music, Aswan Dam's match day thread organiser, fantasy football etc. (apologies if I've left out anyone's thread) all go on the linked page.

I don't think the Word Assosciation thread should be a sticky at all. I feel it will stay on page 1 all by itself.

I'm not particularly bothered what's decided, sure you mods will come to a sensible decision. Hopefully everyone else will be sensible too, confident everyone will be actually.

 

what about a games thread where the tipping, betting, fantasy football can have a link, tbh never been to the joke site

 

Dilli, why not combine all the ideas into one.

Have just one 'sticky' thread titled Swansea Sticky Forum. Inside have links to all other threads (like the links section). Leave it to the reader to go into the 'FORUM' if they want to.

No disrespect to any of you MOD's, but over the last few months there have been several sticky's that should have been removed, but, due to the uncertainty of who could do it or not, they remained. Now it is the football season, there should only be football topics, so, with one sticky at the top it meets everyone's liking.
