The tough games keep on coming with this trip up to the NorthWest to face table topping Blackpool. This will be a huge test for our youngsters but at least we can say that we have a young side compared to the OAPs we had in the side last season! I am not getting carried away but I do think that we will get at least a point with the new found confidence the players will have got from the midweek result. Blackpool will throw everything at us and it I can see it being a backs to the wall job for much of the game but we have enough going forward on the counter attack. This will be a game that Luke Hyam will revel in as he will be the one who will break up the Blackpool attacks and Luongo and Martin will load the bulletts for Chopra. I can see Scotland making a telling contribution late doors. The key to this game will be to go in level at half time and then hopefully nick something in the last 10-15 minutes. I am sure that there will be at least 1500 Townies cheering the boys on. I wish I could go tomorrow but I have a bloody wedding to go to! COYB Blackpool 1 Ipswich 1
Maestro says the same about Cambridge! Tough test, this, I'd happily take a point, but after the Watford result I'm going 2-1 Town, Chopra, Luongo.
Gonna buck the trend here. 2-0 Blackpool. They have 2 of the best wingers in the division playing, this will be one of our hardest 3 or 4 away games. Please prove me wrong though, happy enough to eat humble pie!!!! I feel we'll play quite well, and possibly be ontop for spells, however they will be more clinical with their opportunities. I also know for a fact if we lose tomorrow, there will be one hell of a lot of negativity. For what it's worth, I believe we'll beat Huddersfield after, and 7/12 points to me would be a great start to the league campaign!
I'm very happy with the way things are going at the club. There's a lot of positive vibes coming out from the players and PJ seems to have more of a plan. I know we're a couple of players short to challenge (top 6) but I think we're going in the right direction. It will be interesting to see if and how we bounce back after a defeat, then I think we'll have more of an idea how we'll do this season. No flouncing from me if we lose this as it's one of the hardest games of the season! I'm still going for 1v1 though
Have to agree with you Westlake. Expecting to lose but would be very pleased with a point and ecstatic if we won. Not the end of the world if we don't come away with anything from this one.
Expecting to lose, the idea of Ince and Phillips coming up against Edwards and to a lesser extent Cresswell doesn't inspire confidence. The likes of JET and Carson are going to have to bust a gut to help out defensively. They still have Kevin Phillips who always seem to remind us of our mistake not to buy him those many years ago! Still managed 16 goals in the league last year, unbelievable considering he's 39. Despite this, I'm still going for a 2-1 town win with Chops and Chambers scoring, can't predict against us!
Westy I don't think there will be to much negativity if we lose, this is gonna be one of our hardest away game this season. I think we can pinch a draw, so long as we show the same comitment, endevour & style of play so far this term I for one will not be unhappy....
No negativity from me, am hopefull of a win, expecting a draw but wouldn't be shocked or too upset if we lost!!
Hmmm ... just heard that most common refrain from last season on the iplayer: "TERRIBLE defending from Ipswich Town!" 0-1. Arse.
