Hey guys, I'm going to do a small review on our 5 signings this summer ( why the hell not ;) )

    Marko Marin
    Nationality: German.
    Age: 23.
    Height: 5ft 7.
    Fee: 8 Million.
    Position: LW/RW/AM.

I know we signed him a couple of months before this summer window but he's only just arrived so it's the same thing really.
Marko Marin is a very good footballer, quick, creative, a good passer and will cause fullbacks a lot of trouble.
His favorite position is left wing then right wing next and then he can do a job in the AM role.
One problem with Marin is his injuries, he was injured for a lot of last season with Werder Bremen and after a great couple of games in pre-season he has and will miss Man City, Wigan, Reading and Newcastle. I really hope these injury's stop and don't ruin his career for us.
I'm still going to say that he's a good signing for us.

Player he's similar too: Duff / Robben.
How Happy Am I With Him: 7/10. He looks good, he didn't cost much, but inury prone player get on my nerves a little. <ok>

    Eden Hazard
    Nationality: Belgium.
    Age: 21.
    Height: 5ft 7.
    Fee: 32 Million.
    Position: AM/LW/RW.

Honestly thought he was going to Manchester, was pretty surprised when I heard he had signed for us but I was delighted.
His favorite position is AM, then left wing, then right wing.
We've already seen what Hazard can do. Impressive debut against Seattle, looked creative in the other pre-season games and Man City.
Then really showing what he can do against Wigan & Reading, quick, creative, good passer, great dribbler but also very un-selfish.
He has a real footballing brain, knows when to pass, shot and has plenty of confidence.
He has potential to be one of the best players in the world.

    Player He's Similar Too: Zola.
How Happy I Am With Him: 10/10. He's exactly what we need. And realistically we couldn't have got much better. <wizard>

    Oscar:
    Nationality:
    Age: 20.
    Height: 5ft 11.
    Fee: 20 Million.
    Position: AM/CM/LW/RW.

At first when we signed Oscar I thought.......he must be a talent but who is he???
I watched a couple of Youtube clips and read some fans thoughts on him and it had looked like we got a very good player.
I then watched every game he played at in the Olympics and I liked the look of him!
His favorite position seems to be in behind the striker but he drifts around a lot, he can play deeper in the CM role and can do a job on the wings!
He is your Iniesta / Kaka type of player, good passer, links up well and can score & create goals.
Only 20 years old and already looks like a great player. Did well when he came on against Wigan & Reading as well.

    Player He's Similar Too: Kaka.
How Happy I Am With Him: 9/10. Looks good already and I expect him to get better, very good signing. <magic>

    César Azpilicueta
    Nationality: Spain.
    Age: 22.
    Height: 5ft 10.
    Fee: 7 Million.
    Position: RB.

We were linked with Azpilicueta for ages and I'm happy the deal has finally gone through!
We struggled for the RB spot for a few years but then we got Ivanovic but still had Bosingwa as back up which was not so good....
But now with Ivanovic and Azpilicueta fighting for RB, I think we're sorted for the next 2-3 seasons at least in this position.
To be honest......I don't know a hell of a lot on this guy ( Please feel free to fill me in, how does he play and who is he similar too )
From what I've heard he is a very good, young right back, he plays good football and is just a very solid acquisition to the team and will provide
competition for Ivanovic ( I'm thinking in the way Bertrand is competing with Cole.....I rate Bertrand pretty highly! )
Any way, seems like a great signing!

Player He's Similar Too: I'm thinking Arbeloa? Help me out.
How Happy I Am With Him: 8/10. Young, but already a solid RB, Expect him too get better and didn't even cost much. :emoticon-0109-kiss:

    Victor Moses.
Nationality: Nigerian ( Homegrown in England )
    Age: 21.
    Height: 5ft 10.
    Fee: 9 Million.
    Position: RW/LW/ST/AM.

I know it's not official yet but it looks like it will be sorted in the next 1-2 days.
Any way.....A lot of people are already doubting Moses, saying he'll be rubbish or the 'Next Kalou' or whatever but I don't think that.
Sure, he may flop or whatever but at 21 and only costing 9 million I think we've signed a good player!
Victor Moses tore Ivanovic & A.Cole a new one last weekend against us for Wigan.
He's quick, strong, versatile and is a very good addition to the squad!
His best positions are on either wing but he can do a job as the striker or in behind the striker.
We're about to sign a good player who's not much of a risk, why not?

Player He's Similar Too: Antonio Valencia.
How Happy I Am With Him: 7/10. Good, young player who can improve in the next 1-2 years and be very useful for us.

    Overall:
Very happy with our signings, we're finally signing young, talented players, who can play football!
We're sorting out deals earlier on and it's much easier that way!
We signed a young, talented right back to replace Bosingwa.
We have signed 4 creative players in Oscar, Hazard, Marin & Moses. About time we bought some wingers and creative players!
It would have been nice to sign a natural CM and ST. Players like Modric & Cavani would have fitted nicely but you can't have everything.....right?
And I guess Oscar could play CM and V.Moses could play ST but any way.....nevermind.

How Happy I Am Overall: 9/10. You can't ask for everything but the club has done a lot the summer and has got us some great players <somersault>

Man.....that was effort. Feel free to comment or give the players your own rating or whatever.

    Cheers <ok>

Only 5? The way the media and rival fans are carrying on its as if we've signed 50 <doh>

Great overview though Joey, keep it up <ok>

Best thing is, they're all signings for the future whilst already being capable of playing at the top level. Imagine what we'll be like in 2-3 seasons.

I think there will be Joey in fact I'm certain. I would prefer Cavani but Hulk is looking like a deadline day deal

You can't win with them. We don't sign anybody and were an "old and past it" squad but if we sign anybody "FFP <wah>" and we shouldn't be signing them as they aren't Messi or Ronaldo

The Cesar bloke is decent but from what I've seen (a few CL matches) he likes to get forward. While quick, he isn't lightning fast (like say Walker or even as fast as Johnson) so he leaves gaps. Your defence will seemingly be the only weakness this season!

Very formidable summer for you, you must be delighted.

    Great work Joey.
As Drogs says, they are the future, and at least 3 of them can walk straight into the team.with our other cracking youngsters, the fight for starting positions will be intense.
Love the way the kids are fearless and just steam in. We have a great chance to mix youth and experience every game this season and not weaken the team one jot, which makes Drogs, BM2 and me very very happy.

GK and ST is weak but that aside I'm happy. When we sell Malouda that will be like a new signing anyway

I like that these players are all still young and they're not superstars yet (though Hazard is certainly on his way).
They represent a new base for us to work from in next 5-7 years and they are all hungry for success.

I'm really looking forward to season ahead now.

Everything is coming up roses at the moment, some dream signings and the right age too. I'm still a bit concerned over the defensive midfield role though. In my opinion, Obi is not good enough for us and Merieles doesn't really want to play there, (but I think he could). If only we had Essien before the injuries, I would put money on us to win the title and even without my perceived worry we still might, if not I'm sure we will be close come May 2013. And Joey good post mate. Anyone know how to pronounce Azpilicueta. Look's like a foot disease to me.

Good article, but Victor Moses and Valencia are not similar players. I'd say he's more like Nani if you wanted to use a tricky, pacey winger.

We still have 2 open spaces in the 25 man squad list if we want.
