Awoke this morning to find somebody has smashed into my parked car, pushing mine into my wife to be's car and driven off. Hell of a mess. Not happy. Now a good poster has left here because of the tiniest of issues. It's been re-made a sticky so I can't see the issue. We can't please everybody! Hope the last part of my day goes well!
Having worked in criminal justice, JA you have my sympathies. Lots of scummers out there, unfortunately. As for Swim, I've always liked him very much and can't understand this silly fit of pique, particularly as it seemed there was a groundswell of opinion against having so many stickies. Spitting the dummy just makes the mods' job a lot harder.
Police have said "Can't do anything, no witnesses". I have a £700 excess and there's £1000 of damage. About to buy our house, pay for our wedding and now this. Very depressed.
" Not the best day of my life " ... .... Wait till you get married hehe !... Ever since I got married I sleep like a baby .... I sleep for an hour , get up & cry for an hour .. sleep for an hour , get up ...P.S. better days coming jash
these people who do this are scum. It may have been a genuine accident but to drive off is worse than if you done it deliberate. I have installed cctv on my property and for a good one dont come cheap but as i too have have vandals causing me grief i felt it was worth it. Has any of your neighbors got any form of cctv installed chico? Its worth asking around just in case they have witness anything...sorry mate...
By the way jash , same thing happened to a buddy of mine , cops said the same to him as they said to you . He checked surveillance camera's , on his own , in the area & got the suspect vehicle on tape ... tracked the guy & car down & handed the info to the police * the guy got charged & my buddy got his car fixed . The cop wanted to know how he managed to track the culprit down '' By doing your job " was my buddy's answer . Anyways , check surveillance all around the area .. Cheers !
Surely if there's that much damage to your cars, there must be hell of a mess of theirs too, and probably injury to themselves. Pissed no doubt. Arse holes
One of our neighbours thinks it was a lorry. The road is only just wide enough for two cars, let alone a lorry. Bastard.
Fcukin hell what a day you've had, sorry to hear that mate remember what doesn't kill you makes you stronger so you keep the faith brother. As for Swim, I've PM'd him re his sticky, can't see the issue myself to be honest and I'm sure Swim is big enough to stay.
Sorry to hear your news, Chico. Great sympathy because something similar happened to me and is ongoing. I had partially reversed my car from a "nose-in" parking bay to check that the road clear and was STATIONARY when a stupid woman driver appeared from nowhere, tried to squeeze by and clipped the rear of my car. There were no independent witnesses but my own insurers want to settle her claim against ME!!!!!! In the absence of independent witnesses, I assumed that a "knock for knock" basis would apply. Not so. I was informed this practice was dropped 20 years ago. If this had been a criminal case, nothing to answer on either side because there was no independent corroboration available. But in this (civil) case, I am informed that the court will adopt a "balance of probability" stance and find against me because my car was in the reverse position. What a complete and utter farce! This means that she has a licence to drive into me and get my insurers to pay for it!! Hell, her car hadn't even been in the street when I first moved my car. Whatever happened to her responsibility to drive with due care and attention? There was no damage at all to my car but my insurers will have to pay for the substantial damage to hers. It won't cost me my excess because I am not making a claim but the principle of the likely judgement is making my blood boil. The law is an ass? Absobloodylutely! Anyway, Chico, many commiserations. I know it's not much consolation to know that there are other victims of circumstance.
As you say, the law is an ass Ivor. 6 hours after letting the Police know, still no visit from them. All I had was an officer on the phone telling me it was tough, as I have no witnesses. Will be going around my village tonight asking if anybody saw a lorry at such a time and will bve checking for visible damage on any that are local to us. I felt so sick this morning. As a 25 year, having a hot hatch is a big deal. Took me years to save £6000 for it, to now be fooked.
Sorry guys - the law isn't an ass and works in the vast majority of criminal and civil cases. It's only an ass when you hear about particular cases where things go wrong. Don't get me started on police laziness though.
Chico, sorry about whats happened however, as Cracker has said Llandod has cctv camera's. I would be phoning the nick back and asking for an update as to the investigation. If you are told that they are still awaiting the initial report point out the length of time you have been waiting and ask that the cctv cameras be checked.Ask for the details of the person who took your initial phone call. This will have the effect of recording on the incident the inaction and lack of investigation. This will come in handy I promise at a later time. Best of luck let us know what's been said.
That's life folks, think we've all had a scumbag, that has done damage and driven off! Trouble is CCTV footage may catch the culprit, but it's just not a subject the police are interested in, and you'll still have a hell of a job getting their insurer to admit liability, that's if they have insurance, so you might as well put it down to experience, and fund the repairs yourself, tough and unfair, but that's life on the highway today!...................
