I have been looking a bit at how many players we got at the different posissions and I can't help but notis that there are certain posissions where we have to many players. Hopefully this is a correct overview of the players we got: GK: Michel Vorm Gerhard Tremmel Left back: Neil Taylor (Jazz Richards) Ben Davies (U21) Fede Bessone Right back: Angel Rangel Jazz Richards Curtis Obeng Central defender: Ash Williams Chico Kyle Bentley Gary Monk Alan Tate Left wing: Wayne Routledge (Jonathan de Guzman) Gwion Edwards (U21) Right wing: Nathan Dyer (Jonathan de Guzman) Central midfield: Leon Britton Michu Jonathan de Guzman Kemy Agustien Andrea Orlandi Mark Gower Stephen Dobbie Striker Danny Graham Itay Shechter Luke Moore Leroy Lita Rory Donnelly(U21) U21 David Cornell Ben Davies Darnel Situ Daniel Alfei Scott Tancock Kurtis March Gwion Edwards Lee Lucas Henry Jones James Loveridge Jamie Proctor Rory Donnelly With Scott Sinclair leaving, I have left him out of it... I put Dobbie as a midfielder as he has been more of a attacking midfielder or a second striker. Some posissions are realy overcowded and we are lacking in some posissions. According to my list we have 25 non U-21 players. Two or mabye three are coming in so five players probably have to go (Scotty not included). Can't see Dobbie staying, nor can I se Gower staying. Lita or Moore probably have to go to. ML probably want's Tatey gone too. So who's the last one? I think we should bring in two wingers, especially now that Scotty's leaving and Joe will also be replaced. What do you guys think?
I may be wrong but I think both Jazz and Bartley still qualify as U21. Taking those two out that leaves a squad of 23. Assuming we have 2 more coming in then 25 come the weekend; plus of course all the U21’s. I can’t see any fringe players wanting to leave as they would probably drop down a league or two with comparable wages if they did. No one would want that, particularly those in the Autumn of their careers, e.g. Gower, Tate and Monk. Tate and Monk I feel should be considered as fixtures and we should never let them go, we owe them so much.
You're right about Jazz and Bartley, but don't you think ML would want them to train with the firstteam squad? I think he wants 22-23 players in everyday training because it makes it easier (you can play 11 vs 11 and so on). I don't think HJ and ML would force anyone out but some of the players will not play and will have the opportunity to leave if they want to. I think HJ sees Monk and maybe Tatey as a part of the clubs future...
Jazz and Bartley are both senior players being born before the cut-off of 1/1/1992. We need a minimum of 8 domestic players on the 25-man squad, so if Jazz and Bartley are going to be selectable they must be on our squad and would count to the minimum of 8. By my reckoning we have 16 domestic seniors on the books, so we're not at risk of not having enough. Ki, if we sign him, would be a non-domestic senior.
"Tate and Monk I feel should be considered as fixtures and we should never let them go, we owe them so much." I worry about this. There is absolutely no room for sentiment in this business. That said, I don't see why Tate and Monk can't be groomed for a coaching role if possible. If they're not interested and want first team football then they should be told there's no place for them. Harsh, maybe but you can trace almost every defensive mistake last season back to these two. No shame in not being up to this level. Both love the Club and I'd rather have them around than not - but on our terms. Remember, their wages are considerable. Yes, I know I'm in the minority. Swans fans are generally a loveable, sentimental bunch.
Cant agree more! Players like these must understand WHAT'S good for the club rather than who WAS good for the club!
Well Scott is going, there is a price agreed for Dobbie but he is being an arse regarding wages, Tate and Gower should be shipped off but I doubt there is anyone who would take them, same with Lita...if we can find a buyer...bye bye. Id keep Moore as he can have a moment or two of magic and plus he would be good to play in cup games. Monk I would keep as although he is physically past it for this level, his reading of the game is superb and can only benefit the youngsters of the club if he is teaching them that aspect of the game
IMO Out: Lita Gower (sorry) Dobbie Tate Bessone IN: LB one to challenge Taylor Pablo Hernandez Ki would be nice but not essential! With Michu looking like a top goal scorer, I think we are good for a striker now!
Thanks for the sorry toward Gower swan & only , , it better than you get from most ..... Gower , Lita , Orlandi , Monk , Tate , Bessone & Dobbie .. It sickens me to include Gower , Monk & Tate , it's what must be done though IMO .,
I think that DG will have a better strike rate this season! but u cant get enough in form strikers tho!!! But judging by the performance from ben Davies in the Blackpool game, we do really need a top LB!
Any suggestions who would be a good LB, Id look in the same sort of places where Chico and Michu came from!
