What are your ambitions for this season?
I am hoping for a top 6 finish, but even at the moment that looks unlikely. I don't think Brendan
Rogers has signed the right players and although it is still early days a 3-0 smashing at West Brom is unacceptable. We are still lacking a quality 15+ goals per season forward. If Newcastle offered for Carroll why not bring in Demba Ba as a loan move or possible swap? He is a proven goal scorer in the PL and scored a beauty last weekend as well. I am glad however that Agger wasn't sold as I feel him and Skrtel will become a brilliant partnership for many years to come. As for the full backs Enrique is good enough for the squad and Johnson is good enough too. Still would prefer Martin Kelly and Johnson moved up to right wing (unlikely). Our midfield will most likely be a trio of Gerrard, Allen and Lucas. Three very intelligent players and hopefully Gerrard stays fit and Allen proves himself. One season at the top isn't enough to judge player potential and ability, so hopefully he won't be a waste of money.

I'm hoping to win everything but that's the way I am.

I'm happy with the signings so far but would like 1 or 2 more in.

Demba Ba had a real bad patch in the 2nd half of last season so I don't think he is the reliable forward we need.

Joe Allen was just what we needed in midfield and will be a very good player for us.

Ba? wouldn't happen unless we paid a ridiculous amount. Better targetting someone like him before he comes to premiership then less expensive and less baggage

  4. If we'd have gone for him before the end of July it would have been around £7m.

However, I understand there are issues with his knee and Newcastle are unable to gain insurance since he is unable to pass a medical. This is okay for them since they signed him on a free, it is not feasible for a club to spend money on a player that could break down anytime with no chance of compensation <ok>

I honestly just want us to shed the fringe players on massive wages & for Brendan Rodgers to bring in the people he thinks & trusts to play the way he wants us to.

  7. Which is exactly what he is doing at the minute. The likes of Borini, Allen and Assaidi weren't the signings most of us wanted to see but they are young ambitious players that won't be on massive wages, plus Brendan knows two of them well.

I said (quite a while ago) that the first of many steps we need to take is steadying the ship. Kenny help to stop the rot and steady the ship to a degree but now we need to stabilise it. We need to shift players like Aquilani, Cole, Aurelio, Maxi, etc (I know, just examples) that were not playing regular first team football but were also receiving a rather large piece of pie each week.

As we keep hearing, Liverpool Football Club is a big job and it is going to take time to sweep the deck <ok>

Earlier I would have said, top 4. Now I say top 6.

Not because of wba... long term that means little... but because after really thinking about the squad more I realised we've got gaping big holes if key players get injured or need a rest. Couple that with it'll take three or so months for the players to truly adapt to rodders style means this will be a difficult transition season.

Top 6 this season... if we move in the right direction top 3 next season.

I recently read something recently that Assaidi, Allen and Borini earn less combined than Aquilani did. Liverpool are getting rid of fringe players off the wage bill on massive wages and bringing in young hungry players on incentive based wages. Luis Suarez had to earn the big wages, he was only on £40k a week, he's apparently doubled his wages with his newly signed contract.

From what I can make out, Liverpool currently have one of the smallest wage-bills in the premiership. Should they get back in the Cl, they will be equipped to go for the jugular and kick ass in the transfer market.

  12. One of lowest wage bills in Prem? Not sure about that, the likes of Norwich, Swansea, Southampton, Reading, etc will have a fraction of ours <ok>
