Adebayor has just signed for Spurs for a fee believed to be £5 million.Wolves want us to pay three times that for Fletcher. The sums just don't add up.Five million pounds for a proven goal-scorer or fifteen million pounds for a "journeyman"....surely,it's a no-brainer.

Could have given Adebayour the £10m in wages

And before anyone mentions cap, there isn't one for Johnston.

Bergkamp's was a dutch one, mind.

Adebayor has also has 2 years left on his contract but will be on close to £200k per week. Factor that into the calculations over the next 3 or 4 years (and the fact he will be 32 and no resale value) against Fletcher on about £40k per week and the fact Adebayor is a total puke of a person and I'd say Fletcher every day for me.

Adebayor is just a horrible mercenary bastard, who went down in my eyes after he ran the full length of the pitch for City to gloat at scoring in front of fans that had supported him when times where **** at Arsenal (16 goals in his first 60 games).

I would rather have Kenwyne Jones back than sign Adebayor mate.

Cest,I wasn't suggesting that we should have gone for Adebayor, just that Wolves are asking too much for Fletcher!

i disagree mate i think adebayor is just your typical modern dy pro. i seen an interview with him a while back and they were asking him about the fans and **** like that, and he just went on to say he is a profesional footballer and he gets paid very well to score goals and play well for the team and thats what he does very well imo..

I love how people call Fletcher a "journeyman" he's mid 20's for Christ sake.

The fee is as low as £5m due to months of haggling over fees and wages etc. City wanted him off the wage bill, Spurs Wouldnt pay what he earned at city so the transfer fee reduced so they could free up the money to pay the wages negotiated, deal worked for both parties.

Adebayor got 5 more than Fletcher last year. Fletcher had Jarvis, Adebayor had Bale, Van Der Vaat, Modric and Lennon. I dare bet Fletcher would have banged 20 in with that supply line

Adebayor got 17 goals last season and 11 assists (only player to get into double figures for both)
Man City are paying 60% of his wages (Levy would not break the Spurs wage cap)
Makes 15million for fletcher look expensive
interesting to see where Johnson ends up

We wouldn't get Adebayor anyway so this argument is a crap one.

We can get Fletcher though and for us he will be equally as good for what we need.

Also, seeing as this not a disclosed deal, how do you know City are paying 60% of his wages? Are you on the board at spurs or know levy personally?

My guess is you want to believe it rather than it being actual fact.

    <ok>

We was the only club in world football to bid for Abebayor, even though he is proven and potentially world class, and only costs 5 million, what does that tell you?

There is no doubt he will do just that. £200k per week buys you a goal scorer without a doubt.

He is still a puke though. Lol
